This is such a dumb argument. No team offense is like the Houston Rockets. Of course no PF has done more than 3 a game because no team in history has had an offense that bans the mid range shot. As such almost all of Anderson's attempts will come in the 3 pt range, so obv he will take more 3s and thus make more 3s than other PFs. Take a look at the number of Ariza and Gordon's 3 pt attempts I bet they would also be at the top for their positions.

This game is a good example. Ryan Anderson HAD 4 MADE 3s. Omg!!! He just broke history! Wait...he took only seven 3 pt attempts! Is seven 3 pt attempts for an entire game history making? Is it like the best in the history of the NBA? No?

This is ridiculous. You need to dig deeper when looking at trends. Anderson's overall attempts are actually LOWER than other stretch PFs, however those stretch PFs play from the paint to the mid range line thats why they take (and make) a lower number of 3s. If all Anderson is taking is 3 pt shots then it wouldn't be hard to make 2.8 threes a game, in fact it would be mediocre results if that was all he gave.

For all the negative vibes ppl who are searching for the words ... just copy and post this image

Dude, the context of all this is what would Morey's criteria be to justify $20m. 4 threes per game has only been done by one player in the history of the game. What exactly is dumb about saying Morey wouldn't expect Ryan to shoot enough to match Curry. Sheesh. You guys really pull out arbitrary measuring sticks for Ryan.

And we all agree he isn't measuring up this year. I'm not arguing that point. I'm here to be positive.

Chill out. Say, "I'm not even mad." It will cleanse you for the day.

Curry does more than shoot 3s he is the main creator for the team and he also takes the biggest shots, he drives, dishes etc. Anderson has only 1 role and that is stand still at the 3 pt line and shoot OPEN 3s. If it is the only thing he does then obviously he will take (and make) lots of 3 a game. In fact he is not even taking and making enough since he is only generated 13 pts last season, in comparison Ariza generated 11.7 pts while also being the team's best defender and only making less than half of his salary, albeit at a slightly less efficiency (4% less TS).

You are doing projection, you are the one pulling out arbitrary measuring sticks for Anderson by saying all these historical crap. Anderson is currently shooting 2.2 threes on 5.2 attempts. 5 three point attempts a game is historical? Curry takes a lot of 3s but it isn't open uncontested 3s like Anderson, he does it while being the focus of the opponent's defense. Putting them in the same category and saying Anderson is "matching" Curry is just insane. If Anderson was being guarded the same way as Curry you know how many he will make? That's right, 0.

I'm not blaming you for being positive but please don't be dumb, or even worse disingenuous. Dp you honestly believe Anderson is being a historically great player right now? Gimme a break.

As for justification of his salary, 20M for 13 pts on 2.8 made threes+random pts isn't earth shattering. 4 made 3s like what the original poster is saying may break historical records, but the Rockets last year broke all 3 pt attempt records anyway so history doesn't matter, Rockets are operating on another level entirely since they are the only team in history to ban mid range shots.

Comparison should be done on an apples to apples basis. Using Andersons made 3 pt shots and saying he should be paid 20M because it is one of the highest made attempts in history is not true because almost all of his attempts are from 3. Anderson made 2.8 threes last year but if you look at Ariza he made 2.4 threes last year which is pretty close. Are you saying both of them deserve 20M a year because they make the most 3s in NBA history? LOL

Look, I hate the hesitation and lack of confidence he shows after he misses a few shots. Passing up open looks really irritates me.

I understand he is going through a very bad slump. One of the worst he has ever had. But let’s give him credit for really grinding out there.

Against a much bigger and rebounding dominant front court of taj/kat he really came up with some needed rebounds.

He was being aggressive inside also which is good.

It sucks he’s lost so much confidence in his shot but it’s nice seeing him “grind it out” and doing the little things to help the team.

Overall I thought he was ok in his performance tonight.

He is still not out of the slump. I really believe he will eventually break out and go on a hot streak. When he is in a grove, he can really fill up the basket. We have seen him do it. The only chance for this team to overtake the Warriors is to get hot at the right time. Imagine this team shooting threes at a 50% plus clip.

I don't even think he played that poorly. He just missed all his threes and that's what everyone is hyper focused on (and they should be).
