I’ve tried Screenflow but it’s overpriced and I have no need for its built in editor. I’m currently leaning towards iShowU Instant. The main things that I’m needing are image quality and the ability to record system and microphone audio from an audio interface.

Any suggestions? Going to be running it on a newish MacBook Pro.

You can’t do that with QuickTime? I know I can take screen recordings with it.

I don’t want to have to use Soundflower for audio capture, also QuickTime can hog resources at times as well. Which is no good because I’ll be using some pretty demanding software while recording the screen.

Ok I see. Yeah when I’ve used it for screen recording it is a huge resource hog. It drains the battery just about as quick as civ.

I've used Jing & Camtasia. Both satisfactory.

They're both by the same company. I think Jing is for less than 5 mins in the free version.

Quicktime is quick an easy, but a pain for editing on the fly.

    Go to Apowersoft.com

Select Mac, then Mac Screen Recorder.

I haven't used it with Mac, but I use it with PC all the time, and it's great. It's free, there is no time limit, no watermark, and it works well. I assume it will work the same with Mac. Give it a try and see.
