They need to clone these suckers and have them wander areas like the Dakotas so they can be hunted for BBQ! Seriously, though - cool stuff. Hope those whacky Russians can clone them.

Maybe put robot parts and guns into them to better prepare for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

Last thing I want to see is commercials with shaq on a wooly mammoth talking about how big he is.

When they successfully clone these beasts with robotic parts, I hope they sell it to the general public as means of transportation. Can you imagine the epic videos of crazy Russian drivers on mammoths???

Mammoth to mammoth collision. Best invention yet.

The Russians have to be trying to clone a Mammoth - - this discover should help the process. They made two headed dogs and kept a decapitated dog head alive -so cloning one of these and putting it in an elephant will hardly cross their ethical boundaries.

I don't understand why they are going through all this trouble to clone mammoths. Weave on an elephant; problem solved.

Can someone explain to me the purpose of cloning a wooly mammoth other than just to see if they can do it?

Because we can't let animals be extinct, for whatever reason.

Technically this wouldn't be a 100% clone right?

I don’t really know I just feel like it’s not the genuine thing, plus it probably wouldn’t live long anyway.
