Lol, only if the Grizzlies irrationally value him like he's about to show the world he's on Durant's level. The Rockets could absolutely put together an attractive package for a glorified role player with an albatross of a contract. Luckily, Morey is smart enough to stay far, far away.

My guess is Hollinger is smart enough to want to dump this guy while he has a shred of value (a la Joe Johnson).

You mean you wouldn't want a player who is almost productive as Gay for less than 1% of his contract? Right...

If that proposed trade would get it done I'd pull the trigger... Then I'd swing parsons, Jones, picks, and any other assets to Minny for Love.

We have room for a max contract and we aren't going to waste it on Gay.

Parsons is a glue guy. Gay is a black hole.

 

You might not, but your GM certainly does.

 

It's not wasted if it improves a position to a top 5 (maybe 10) talent AND allows us to trade Parsons for Love. Gay would play a Scottie Pippen type roll next to Harden and we'd be crazy young and VERY competitive.

 

It looks good on paper but I think Parsons would fit better.

 

Rudy as our other max player? No thanks.

Forget about max titles. Youd have Harden, Love, Gay, Lin, & Asik... Two All-Stars, 2 borderline all-stars and a rapidly improving legit big-man. I'd ONLY want Gay if it were followed by a move for KL. Super young team too. Who cares who's making what money if your roster is stacked at every position.

 

You can't "forget it." OKC traded Harden because they couldn't afford him.
