Rockets Waive Rucker And Sanders

    HOUSTON (October 1, 2003) - The Houston Rockets have waived forward/center Guy Rucker and guard Melvin Sanders, general manager Carroll Dawson announced today.
    Rucker, (6-9 and 270 pounds), opened the NBA season with the Golden State Warriors, totaling one rebound and one assist in three games. He finished the season with the Gary Steelheads of the Continental Basketball Association, averaging 4.4 points (on .520 shooting) and 3.7 rebounds in seven games. Rucker averaged 8.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in three seasons at the University of Iowa.

    Sanders, (6-5, 210 pounds), was drafted 12th overall by the Continental Basketball Association's Dakota Wizards in the 2003 CBA Draft and fourth overall by the United States Basketball League's Dodge City Legend in the 2003 USBL Draft. Sanders played at Oklahoma State and averaged 9.9 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 94 games.
