Usually a basketball player is judged and paid in relation to personal stats. And along with that you assume a highly paid player is better or has a rare skillset. Asik is largely unknown by most of casual NBA fans. He hasnt put up huge numbers but he has two things you cant teach, youth and size. Morey may not think Asik is worth the money he has offered him and imo he doesnt. But Morey knows, barring injury, he will be worth it between his performance and trade bait. With him signing a large contract as we offered his name begins to surface and other GMs wonder if the guy is worth the money. If he signs, the Magic definately need a center to respectively replace him and he is Orlandos best option (bynum is going nowhere) couple that with tons of young talent and Martin, there is no way the Magic would turn that down. Say Asik,KMART, Jones and Morris. Im pretty sure salaries work... On the latter we make the Bulls match and are bound to either give up Noah or Asik. In which we could do the same trade just inserting Noah into it and making a 3 way trade... It may seem far fetched but i believe these are Moreys intentions. Going to be an amazing nba season. Morey has taken the load of commander in chief and was recently heard quoting the great McLazy eye, and i quote "its on me".

From what I've been reading, if Houston signs Asik, they can't trade him for an entire year so the theory of us trading for Howard, as far fetched as that sounds, wouldn't work entirely in our favor. Orlando would surely try to drop Richardson or Hedo with Howard as well. If nothing happens and our team doesn't get to add anyone because of these moves, we're definitely going to be worse off than we were last year. (Camby/Lee/Dragic sign elsewhere, and you still have an unhappy Martin/Lowry and possibly Scola). Woo for team chemistry!
I don't like losing Camby but besides him I already think we have a better team than last year. Dragic replaced by Lin is a push, a healthy Lowry and Martin is a plus, a healthy Martin is so much better than Lee that they shouldn't be compared. An upgrade for sure at center and who knows one of the rookies may really contribute like Parsons did last year.
I have thought the same way, but we can't trade asik immediately and the bulls might not want to trade noah that soon since asik's salary counts 5M for the first two years

Even if it all plays out and Houston is able to get Howard, I'll bet my last nickle he still leaves after this season and signs with the Nets. Then Houston has no legit centers left on the roster...
