Everywhere I've looked shows Chiozza being a one year deal for $90,005 with a QO for next year of $1,643,842. Maybe those sites haven't updated ….
Well, unless you think David Weiner is actually a hot dog that belongs in a bun, I have to go with Bima.
Alas no backup center is available. Hart is just not good enough. Only guards. No disrespect to Michael Frazier. I hope he plays well for us.
I like him for the Rockets future (and present). Michael has made great strides this year. Potential to improve even more is there, given the effort and hard work. May even surprise a time or two in this years playoffs. I’m guessing it’s in preparation of life without Rivers, Shumpert and maybe even Eric Gordon next season. Carsten Edwards from Purdue caught my eye in the tournament and I was hoping the Rockets could move up in the 2nd round and get him......but at 6’1” I would rather go with the 6’4” Michael Frazier going forward. Frazier hasn’t shrunk in the 2 playoff games of the Vipers...instead he rose to the occasion. Now the Rockets don’t have to draft a combo guard.....they can concentrate on SF, PF (options) and back up Center.
Thanks Apache. I did see a bit of Frazier with the Vipers some months ago. He looked all right with his jumper. I didn't think much of him, but it's good to have a decent backup option, as our team relies so much on shooting. Another Troy Daniels sure would be nice.
Denver and their waves of young, fast guards really caught my eye this year. Maybe morey is trying to catch lightning in a bottle.
Yeah, if the Rockets are successful in the PO’s I’m guessing Eric Gordon stays; but we can move on from Rivers/Shumpert with Frazier. He runs the same plays with the Vipers. Drafting a guy would be a chance. You never know what you might end up with? D Russell (Nets or Lakers) or Fultz? Money for Rivers/Shumpert will probably be more than the Rockets are willing to pay this summer. My wish to move Gordon is a means to pay House or free agent SF. Strictly business.
From my seats, everything points to @BimaThug having cleared up the confusion on why it seemed Morey was not operating in a Morey fashion ... and that starts with Morey twice replying to Bima’s tweets with TTP comments. It makes perfect sense that Morey was providing hints to Bima, that he was correct to assume the actions were odd *as analyzed*, because the cap sites had key facts wrong ... starting with the the publicized *estimated* Luxury Tax threshhold. It also makes sense that Morey would be in no hurry to provide details of Chiozza’s deal, since he was planning a Frazier one, too...and apparently no one really cared to snoop it out, until Bima did. I’m sure that source is either Rockets or someone with league connections (who saw the contracts) like Bobby Marks, whom Bima has developed a relationship with.
Frazier as a strong combo guard looks a lot like Gordon. The shooting plus the on-ball driving as mentioned below. Here is a pretty good article talking about how he has improved his game to make him the G-league most improved player https://www.ridiculousupside.com/20...frazier-nba-g-league-season-rio-grande-valley From his perspective, Frazier’s area of growth during this season is as an on-ball driver. “ coach JB (head coach Joseph Blair) have put me in a good position to be able to showcase that I can do that. It’s something that I’ve really shown at a high level for the first time in my career,” the RGV Vipers guard told Ridiculous Upside. His progression as an on-ball driver is largely due to one specific trait that Frazier has been working on throughout the season. That newfound strength deals with his knack for pushing his body into the opposing player, whether they’re a big or forward, to gain an advantage over that defender.
This is why I was NEVER concerned about these LT worries about Capela or the Choizza/Frazier contracts. Once Morey threw down the "Trust the Process" it was beyond obvious that there were cards the fan could not see and didn't have all the info.
I like Gordon. He is skilled and has been underrated because of shorter stature in height and because of his history of injuries, but he is slowing down. I would move him for a starting SF. Adding Clark and a 2nd may give us a chance at that. I do want to retain House as a backup SF/SG. Moving Gordon's contract could be useful for us. I hope Eric will step up in the playoffs, but I don't expect a whole lot from him this season. His last season's playoff performance was wonderful.
It is pretty cool this site has an asset like Bima, who has the passion, skills and knowledge to detect there was an oddity about, and the connections to clear it up for us, including a friendship with the GM.
