He's a really good and creative finisher. Watching him at UT, he was really the heart and soul of the team -- you see UT's implosion this year is really due to the complete lack of any sort of rudder. Taylor was that guy really his entire tenure -- he came out of nowhere (2 star recruit) and was the starter all 3 years for the Horns. To give you an idea, he led UT in scoring and assists all 3 years. He didn't really have a ton of options around him. His only teammate to average more than 12 ppg during his tenure was Jonathan Holmes (during Taylor's freshman year). The only other real talents around him were the in shape version of Cam Ridley (who was playing great before losing his whole season due to injury), and a freshman Myles Turner, who only played ~20 MPG and shot <30% from 3 point land. Teams figured that they could play way off Taylor, and he wouldn't burn them from beyond the arc -- this just added to the degree of difficulty of his drives. His form was never that bad -- he was a pretty consistent 80% FT shooter, and had a decent mid-range game, but if he missed his first long jumper, he was usually off the whole game. Basically -- if he stayed his senior year and showed any sort of jump shot, he's probably a 2nd round pick, maybe a late first. Think of this as "buying" a 2nd rounder. If his jumper sticks, I think he can be everything that Yogi Ferrell is, and probably more.
I like this we already have a 10 man rotation, fill out the roster with cheap flexible contracts that are low risk/high reward
Very interesting @Dr of Dunk! I wonder if the Rockets were hiding him, knowing that they would likely have a roster spot open after the trade deadline.
