not terribly impressed by just one move. in the nba he would have to make his move a lot quicker than that. can't wait for the defender to come down.

regardless, one nasty dunk isn't enough reason to waste a draft pick on a guy. james white is one of the best dunkers i've ever seen but the guy has no jumper, no handle, no strength, and no defense. does that mean we should draft him?? hell no.

He'll definitely be in the draft and has been predicted to go high if I am not mistaken. The only question is knowing how old he really is and if China will let him go.

This guy is not good. He's averging like 19 and 8 in the CBA. When deangelo collins was there he tore it up and that guy cant even make an nba team

    is that Yi Jianlian?

let's see how he does in the FIBA championship.

i hear he's supposed to have tremendous "upside".

i hate the word upside...one of the dumbest words to describe an athlete or prospect. upside means, has talent but doesn't know how to use it, and probably never will.

    example: stromile swift.

that's why i put that word in quotes. "Upside" really doesn't mean much.

from what i've heard about Yi Jianlian, however, he might be a legitimate prospect. He does have good ballhandling skills, athleticism, height, and a decent jumpshot. And he's 18 years old. I don't recall Yi performing particulary well in the 2004 Olympics. We'll see how he does at FIBA and in individual workouts later down the line. It does seem like he will be a 1st round pick.

He's getting 22/9 in the top Chinese league. Albeit that's a league where some guy named Anthony Myles (from Xavier?) is averaging 35 points a game.

Who knows? Most of the times - it's just a crapshoot.

Don't be so quick to judge if you never seen him play. I seen this kid play and he has amazing talent. 7'1 and can run the floor, block shots, jump out the roof and shoot the jumper. Easily the most athletic player china has produced. He def. needs to put on some weight if he wants to play the 4. Since he is only about 18, he still has lots of time to improve his game. Even Yao said that this kid will become a better player than he is. That's big words coming from yao who is obviously china's best basketball player ever.
