Umm, although I´m in europe I´m not 100% sure what the players in spain make, but I really doubt that he could make 10 mil a year here... Only a few soccer players make that money here, I really don`t think that a basketball player could make that much.

But I´m pretty sure that some other team might`ve freaked out a bit and give him a 12-13 per year contract.

In the end, it`s a fair contract - and since Scola is such a great guy I´m really happy that he will retire as a rocket... now if only I could trade in my T-Mac jersey for a Scola jersey somewhere...

Good contract, if a little long (would prefer 4 years/5th team option). I thought we would pay 7-8 mil per year for scola, with 8% raises the contract starts at just over 8, with 10% raises it starts at ~7.7. well done morey.

 

The salary cap rules heavily favour teams that go well into luxury range, if they can afford it that is, it makes trades infinitely easier if the players arent terribly overpaid (as you always have more assets, the lakers for example probably have about $8m on their books they wish they didn't out of like $93m), teams that sit under luxury range unless they pull a miami heist simply don't have even a remote chance anymore.

Seems to me that a team out there (nets most likely) was about to offer scola a big contract that the rockets cant match, so they went ahead and signed scola to 9m/yr to head that off.
