Great find and a great title for the column by Jason. Friedman has to be the best off the court and off the bench hire by the Rockets in a coon's age. Easily the best writer they've ever had at Rockets.com. There's a great quote in there...

“You have to prod him a little bit because his personality is that he just wants to fit in and doesn’t want to step on toes,” said Adelman. “He’s a guy who plays great with great players because he just knows the game. That’s why he made an immediate impact on the league because he’s so far advanced basketball IQ-wise. But in this setting, he’s got to turn it up a notch and try things. Even if he fails, we want to see him try just to see what he can do. You kind of have to force him because it’s not really his nature but as the week went on I thought he got more and more aggressive and it culminated today when he really made all the big plays for us.”

I think that's from Rick Adelman's son, a member of the staff. Sounds as smart as Dad, doesn't he?

Budinger is about to burst on the scene this year, even more than last year. His assist and rebound numbers should only improve, and with Yao, more open looks.

The Rockets should send Budinger down to Rio Grande Valley Vipers and just let him be "the Man" for a month or two. That might get his bad-ass mojo flowing.

That's not a bad idea. If we could put JT's relentlessness into Buds mind he could be a star. He needs to get some swagger into him.

How about the Rockets' Chase? If he has the same shooting percentages for his career, though, I'll take it!

    Battier is our Doug Christie
Yao is the better version of Divac

    Patterson can be our Webber
    and
    AB can be our Bibby?
    Lowry our Bobby Jackson?

Pretty sure Budinger might even get to start this season. And this is with Ariza and Battier without injury.

He seems to be stuck in limbo. Too good of a player to come off the bench, but just missing that last burst of speed to be a starter.

Glad to hear he's improving in different facets of the game. Hopefully he'll play and be more effective on the defensive end.

I think it's a little early to call Patterson our Webber, but seriously I hope he can become our Webber. Plus Yao is like the steroid version of Divac.
