sigh ... I'd rather have the Bill O'Brien school of motivation--motivation is embedded in his coaching and mentoring. sounds like a typical nerdy Morey move, you think the guys would like reading about it? why not invite a professional athlete to talk to them instead?
You mean like they had Elie do during the playoffs, since that worked so well? You're practically saying they're too dumb for this. Maybe they need to be challenged like this, rather than making it easy for them.
The challenging part would be meeting the oct 19 deadline. That requires some actual planning, effort, and commitment, rather than just sitting in for a quick speech.
Thing is ... who is going to facilitate the discussions? Would they have credibility with the players? Pro athletes look up to someone who has been through it all and succeeded. That's why Kevin McHale (so far) has the street cred because he's a legend in this league.
The credibility is within the content of the book. You don't need the person leading the discussion to be a legend or the best. The book content isn't about them. They just need to have read the book and have the ability to lead a discussion. This sounds like it's more for the younger guys and not the locked in starters, although I'm sure they can pick up some things from it, as well.
ahh this is what dwight meant by getting on the same page during the portland series. we still need a graphic novel version for howard and some nekked big bootay girls on harden's version. battier laughs at this pamphlet. he read a million pages before guarding kobe and during his bathroom breaks.
