Just a heads up, NBA Hardwood Classics is showing the Rockets @ LA Lakers from Feb. 18, 2003 in about an hour..... Can't think what game that might be though
Rockets lost in double OT, Bryant scored 52 on a bad knee, was supposed to be Shaq vs Yao II but O'Neal was injured: Rockets vs Lakers 2/18/03
"He must not have been hurting that bad,'' Houston's Cuttino Mobley said. This was also a very young Rockets team, can't knock them for playing the champs so close.
the guide originally said that this was Yao vs Shaq- I, but I guess they changed it. Still interesting to watch this though...
i'm still looking for the only playoff game we won in the francis/yao/mobley era. this game was kinda bleh.
Van Gundy was covering that game for TNT. He's one of the best NBA broadcasters, if not the best, in my opinion. He was at his best last season. I consider it a treat every time I get to hear him do a game.
Yeah great game. Game 3 of the series, then of course lost game 4 in OT effectively ending the series. Can't help but wonder what could of happened if we had of closed that one out and tied it at 2. But yeah game 3 of that series is still one of my favorite games to watch - remember Stevie scoring consecutive And 1's? The second of which he hung in the air, took the hit from Shaq and spun the ball up and in off the glass. Beautiful. And the call from the ESPN commentator (whose name currently escapes me) "Francis with the show and go, takes it at Shaq, DID HE DO IT AGAIN? HE DID!!" I have watched that play so many times. And the 44 pt game in Yao-Shaq 1. The Stevie 3 to send it to OT. Then the pass to Yao for the dunk that put the game away in OT. As much as those Rocket teams could frustrate, they could certainly exhillerate (sp. ?) on their day.
