He did? Oh. I'd only heard that someone traded a retired player (him) a few years back...I still remember thinking "okay, that's BS."

Still weird that he would un-retire for that.

He could have been great with the young guys too.

Good, he'd be in the way of the young guns. Give minutes to our new hopes, preferably trade K-Mart, too.

True, but we have way too many PFs that need time to develop, and Luis deserves 24-32mpg - it would be good for him and the Rox to part ways.

A yr late imo. Last yr, indy was looking for a scola type for that kind of money. The rockets could've gotten a tpe and open minutes to evaluate patterson, hill, and even morris. They didn't move, they signed david west coming off injury.

I think it'll be an open competition between the young guns.

You make a good point, but just in case you did not know Martin and Camby made more money last year than Scola.

If you're Indiana though why will you trade pieces to sign Scola at 9M when you can get a younger West for just capspace?

I think you can, if he hasn't turned in his retirement papers to the league.

Martin and Scola should be traded for future draft picks.

This means Morey has given up on trying to trade for a superstar (which is a good thing since the chances of it happening was slim) and going into full rebuild mode.....

we could've just done this last season...

West was coming off of knee surgery.....and Scola is just as productive.

I think packaging him in a deal with Lowry to the Lakers for Pau and then trading Pau to the Wolves for a combo of Pek/Williams is the best we can do.

Why would indy trade pieces when they had 30m of cap space? It could've been like odom to the mavs for basically capspace. Having 9m tpes are very valuable in nba. Utah got a 10m tpe for okur and a 14m one for williams. They used the big one for al jefferson and just used the other to help facilitate the odom deal. The tpe helps you absorb a player contract as you know. Getting matching salaries back isn't always the best thing. Imo.
