Aaron Brooks #'s as a starter this year
    --------------------------------------------------------------
    13.7 Points per game.
    4.7 Assists per game.
    4.0 Rebounds per game.

    1.7 Turnovers per game.
    38.75% shooting from 2.
    36.8% Shooting from 3.

Rafer Alstons #'s as a starter this year
    -------------------------------------------------------------
    11.5 Points per game.
    5.4 Assists per game.
    3.0 Rebounds per game.

    1.8 Turnovers per game.
    37.0% shooting from 2.
    34.8% Shooting from 3.

    Interesting huh?

There is no doubt that AB has a HUGE upside and maybe even all-star
potential. I can't say much for Kyle Lowry, but I believe he is a PERFECT
backup PG for Aaron Brooks. If Brooks is geting killed on defense, Lowry is
the perfect guy to bring in to guard the Deron/CP3's of the league...

I expect AB to shoot over 45% from the field from here on
out, and through the rest of his career... I am excited for him.

But the season is over and the Rockets have no chance now that Alston is gone.

kyle lowry's defense seems to be very good which is a nice change. finally we have a player who can guard deron williams (i hope).

Post the stats when Brooks went on a crap shooting streak.

    I'll do it

    1-8
    1-9
    1-7
    2-10

all these games in a row
    1-11
    4-10
    1-7
    2-12
    0-4

Wrong. Aaron Brooks is a better player than Rafer.

    Hence the trade..........
Edit: I am usually great at catching sarcasm:rolleyes::)

From what I read on the other sites, Kyle Lowry is a tough defender.

Still far Better than Rafers ENTIRE CAREER.

    AB shooting 40% this year.

    Rafer shooting 37% this year.

I agree with you. I threw in the eye rolls because of that. Alston is solid, but people act like he was an All-NBA PG.

The team are giving up this season. Why should we keep fooling ourselves?

I don't really care one way or another about this trade, but this is silly. No, Memphis' backup point guard cannot guard the 2nd best point guard in the league.

Right...Aaron Brooks didn't play if he wasn't a starter. Right, it's so specially playing starter or not, since he definitely played with Yao even not starting. Right, it's good way to pull up useless stats.

Stop using stats just to rationalize. What the games.

I think Brooks will do a decent job in the long run but he just isn't talented enough to run a team that is supposedly trying to win it all. I think had this team acquired a quality starting guard Brooks could have certainly blossomed into a very effective 15 minute a night type of player but not much more.

This is going to be a massacre if this team slips into the playoffs. I wonder how the Rocket players feel now? It certainly can't feel good to know management just told you that your season is over as far as they are concerned.

Good post, friend. The sky, I'm pretty sure, is not falling. I understand that it is hard to swallow a trade like this when we were anticipating something huge like VC or BDavis, but I think this will be one of those trades we look back on as a good one.

Because people have a hard time thinking the season is over just because you traded away a PG who puts up, at best, decent stats here and there.
