when asked to do a word association, robert horry responded as follows:

    "rudy tomjanovich"

    winner.

    "danny ainge"

    hate him.

    "michael jordan"

    the best.

then when asked about if they win 4 straight, are they the best since boston's team back in the day, he made a passing comment about how we dont know what would have happened if jordan hadnt retired. nothing big, just interesting.

i contend that although jordan retired in 94-95, our rockets team was good enough to get at least one title if the bulls played rox head to head in the finals..........

Also when asked to compare Hakeem vs Shaq he said Hakeem was better but Shaq may be better by the time his career is over.

Horry used to say that Hakeem is quick and has so many moves that will put lots of centers in foul trouble.

Which is far from the truth. Yes, he faked out center, perhaps too much, because he didn't draw too many fouls. Also, when your go-to shot is a fadeaway, you won't draw many fouls.

Yeah, Hakeem didn't draw too many fouls because of his fadeaway, but he got so much stronger, especially later in his career that it didn't matter much. I think that's something Yao will eventually do also. Also I think the fact that Hakeem faded away really lengthened his career. Instead of going into contact, Hakeem would shoot away from the contact. Shaq's injuries are in large part due to the fact that he takes so much physical contact (of course his weight doesn't help matters any either).

Another verbal towel in the face of Danny Ainge. It looks like his feelings run deep on that one. Wonder what happened.

What happened? Come on, man. Ask Mario Elie what happened. One of the most punkass moves in the history of sports.

Then there was the whole towel throwing incident in Phoenix. I doubt that was to make up for Ainge hitting Elie.

The shame of Rox v Jordinaires was '97. Bulls had no answer for Hakeem. Rox had Clyde and Mario to at least slow MJ (some). Rodman's boards and antics neutralized by Barkley. A great series, one for the ages. One for title of dominant team of the '90s.

Then a funny thing happened while slaughtering the Sonics. Suddenly the walk-over became a 7 game slugfest. Rox won, then gave Utah no competition going down 0-2. The Rox had Game 6 won to send the series back to SLC -- and blew the big 4thQ lead.

That was the team/year for the series to match any series for years in either direction.

Oh, well. The Rox are kinda/sorta back as is MJ, but not the Bulls. YawnYawnYawn.

i watched this too and at the beginning he asked Horry, "Hakeem and Shaq you've won championships with both of they, who is better?"

    Horry responded, "Hakeem..."

I didn't hear the rest...did anyone hear what he said?
