Because a bunch of delegates could defend themselves against a terrorist attack better than all the security and police that is sure to be there?

Wow, worst idea ever. It's like begging for an attack from ISIS in the Mexican Peninsula (ISISiMP). When will the Republican party listen to it's constituents? Gun-free zones kill people. Utterly irresponsible.

These crazy republican gun nuts do the darndest things. It's amusing though if they won't allow guns in there. My best guess is that they will cave, not because it's going to be safer (everyone with a brain knows that it's not going to be safer with guns) but because they don't want to come off as hypocrites.

I think the petition started as a joke by a liberal. Sadly, it was taken seriously and may actually happen.

Could you imagine thousands of angry Republicans with arms all packed together in a divided convention?

If this happens, I bet that someone gets shot.

White America has too much time and money... The **** they will look to fight over. I owe quite a few guns, but it isn't the end of the world if a large gathering decides no guns.

Would be fun if there is a live gun battle after Republican establishment elect someone other than Trump as the party candidate, wonder if CNN will carry that live.

Not surprised they'd run and hide behind the Secret Service. Of course, they will defer to the Secret Service. But, if they had the courage of their convictions, they'd publicly demand that the Secret Service change their policy. You know, because it's safer.

An armed convention is a polite convention. I'm disappointed.

I can only imagine what would happen if thousands of armed Trump and Cruz supporters hear that John Kasich just won a floor vote at the convention to become the nominee.

    :(

Hopefully there won't be any black people walking down an aisle when that news breaks.

Highly irresponsible of the secret service. They're putting thousands of lives at risk just to protect their jobs.

They should consider the venue is a basketball arena and everyone will be sitting in a bowl. They'll pretty much always be someone behind the person you are shooting at and it's surprisingly difficult to hit your target in a situation with movement.

Protecting their job like making sure no candidates get shot? I honestly can't tell if you're joking or not.

It's incredibly irresponsible. Gun free zones create a target rich environment that is tailor made for mass shootings. We can now probably expect a massacre of historic proportions.

Once Ted Cruz wins, won't he abolish the Dept of Treasury anyway?
