I will always remember you for tearing around the bases to score from second on a Home Run so you could score baseball's millionth run.

I will also remember the time you and Art Howe were on the same plane as us going to Minnesota. It was during the World Series when the Twins and the Braves went "worst to first". My wife went up to them at baggage and started some small talk. She mentioned that the Twins and Braves turnaround should give hope to the Astros who finished 65-97. Howe hemmed and hawed and was tempering expectations. My wife said "making excuses already...". Watson laughed and laughed.

Used him as a pinch hitter in 1979's statis pro baseball. But there was no way he was starting over Denny Walling who had a .327 avg.

Who would Watson’s “comp” be in today’s game? How good was he? Always heard of him but obviously never watched him.

Didn’t realize he was NYY GM for a time. I read that he played an underrated role in expanding the game for African Americans. Such a shame that we keep losing so many greats in 2020.

Goldschmidt would be a good comp. Although Goldschmidt has a little more power. Watson was a pure hitter.
