Now that the Warriors have solidified themselves as almost unbeatable and the Cavs continue to be the team to beat in the East. Which NBA star players (playing at least 8 years in the league) should take a paycut to join either team to finally chase a ring?
If Chris Paul went to the Spurs...that might actually be fun. I wonder which ego wins out. Could go the Deron Williams / Jerry Sloan way.
That would be the opposite of the Heat where LeBron would be unselfish and Westbrook would keep chucking.
i can see harden and anthony davis bolting their teams to chase a ring with the brooklyn lins. what a formidable trio that would be.
Chris Paul has a life lesset number of 21, same jersey number as tim duncans old number for the spurs. Both Tim Duncan and Chris Paul played at Wake Forest. Zachary K. Hubbard said he predicts paul signing with the spurs, he also predicted kd leaving for the warriors so who knows
Oh i totally forgot. DWade will join LeBron as well. Dwight/Thompson LeBron/Love Melo/Korver Wade/JR/Shump Kyrie/Dwill Might need a bit more PG depth and another Center...probably healthy Bogut.
Chris Paul is going nowhere. He spearheaded the new CBA rule on changing the "over 37" rule to get the extra year on the max. CP3 will stay a Clipper with the full max offer. Book it. Now, AFTER he signs that Clipper deal. All bets are off when that contract is done.
Paul is at his last chance, lose some money and go to a contender, or stay in LA to make a bit more money and finish your career as a big time loser. If a team like the Spurs wants him, imo he's gone.
Chris Paul to the Spurs is the most realistic and plausible scenario. The Spurs can create the cap room needed: $15,453,126 from Tony Parker if his career is over and he decides to retire or the Spurs waive/amnesty him. $14,000,000 from Manu Ginobili's expiring salary. $16,197,500 from Pau Gasol 's player option, which the Spurs could restructure over multiple years. Altogether, the Spurs have the cap flexibility to go after Chris Paul and pay him the type of salary he will command in the open market. Though, the Spurs have their own free agents Mills, Simmons, and Dedmon to take care of as well.
They're not bums, but their games don't necessarily fit into the Cavs offense... at least not enough to offset Melo's defense and Dwight's locker room antics.
