It's kind of funny that Hutchison has indirectly criticized him of late for the state of Texas public schools, and then Perry writes a letter himself with gems like this:

(Lunch pale -- is that where we whiteys go?)

(Are Democrats planning to add Texas to their Web sites or something? That's a nice idea, Rick.)

Here's the full letter . Funny stuff. You'd think the governor of a major state could learn basic spelling and phrases. Or at least hire a copy editor.

I'm surprised, give the intelligence level of Perry, that the letter was not written entirely in italics.

Yes, lunch pale is sliced turkey with mash spuds and gravy. Side chowder is a bonus. And you could have sprite. The doritos must be eliminated.

At least he's one republican who sees their problem

We cannot merely object to socialized medicine, we must offer consumer-driven alternatives. We cannot simply say "no" to the failed status quo in education, but provide a vision that empowers parents and educators to offer a better product that prepares more students for the jobs of a high-tech economy. And we cannot allow the true party of big government and spending deficits - the Democrat Party - to cling to the mantle of fiscal responsibility simply because Washington Republicans blew it with twelve years of exploding earmarks and spending sprees.

We have to offer an alternative.

Perry does not get it people are tired of GOP policies, no matter how he tries to spin it into "reform" or whatever.

Good luck with the same old platitudes. No health insurance for all-- just platitudes about choice and the "market". Many, many years of of failure. Nothing said. No details-- just "empower" (good word) educators and parents. Now they are really for balanced budgets not just claiming it as they had deficits for the last 12 years.

The words are profound but Perry is not a credible messenger.

A lot of big talk in this thread from people who probably have hair with only 1/8 of the shine and zazz of Perry

My neighbor is the head of his communication department. I guess I have to rag on him about this letter.
