forgive me if this has already been posted... Wednesday, October 22, 2003 ESPN.com news services Los Angeles Clippers: Glen Rice has a hyperextended right knee, which will sideline him for at least two weeks. Rice will miss the team's two remaining exhibition games and its two-game, season-opening series against the Seattle SuperSonics in Japan. Rice hopes to return for the Clippers' Nov. 7 game at Denver. Rice, 36, suffered the injury in Friday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Rice sat out Sunday's game against the Golden State Warriors, and then underwent an MRI exam on Monday that revealed the damage. Rice has been a Clipper for less than two weeks, having signed as a free agent after spending the last two seasons with the Houston Rockets.
What a surprise. I doubt this will be the last time this year that he's injured either. Having him only play in 2/3 of the games and only be effective in half of those wasn't really worth it, even if all we did was clear room to sign Jackson.
Shouldn't this be in the Rockets GARM section? I think Rice will be healthy enough to be traded to a quality playoff team before the trade deadline.
When healthy, Glen Rice will provide an outside threat that the opposing team will have to respect. Rice is a veteran of playoff games and has the capability of spreading the defense while teams play more of a half-court offense. Any team can use that sort of player. If he is healthy at the time of the playoffs, teams in need of scoring or needing to fill a void due to injury will certainly consider obtaining Glen Rice.
