ClutchFans be like "No, no, no! We'll give you Ryan Anderson's 4-year, $80M deal!"

    ;):D

On a more serious (but related note): Chicago should learn from Houston, don't get into a bidding war with Sacramento, pass on the offer and the let the Kings have him.

Bulls versus Kings...two of the what? 5 worst organizations out there? Maybe top 3 with the Knicks.

Why would the Kings even have tried to get Lavine? They already have Fox and Mason III (a capable backup).

I know they're the Kings, but even still. Jeez. You'd be simultaneously stunting the future of Fox and handicapping your cap space, quite a bit.

If they needed another ball handler, they should have just drafted Doncic and try their luck in FA for a big man (void by Bagley)

At least the Bulls experienced a high phase, with Rose / Butler / Noah all being good at the same time. Kings and Knicks, ehhh...not so much.

    HOLY. CRAP.

NBA salaries continue to be out of control and out of proportion.

And it's not just the offer, but the MATCH. Crikey.

The Bulls decided letting Levine go for nothing was worse than overpaying.

    Lose/lose situation.

The Bulls front office is stupid.
Paxson and Foreman are just bad.

The Bulls matched way way too quickly to the point that it even makes me wonder whether Vlade knew it all along?
Doing the agent a favour while taking away the dumping competition..

Kings low key faking out other teams into signing disastrous contracts, first the Rox 2 years ago now Chicago. Next year they will offer Deng a 5 year max and Lakers will match.

they chose...poorly. paying the zach lavine's of the world $20M doesn't get you a championship. you could sign a bag of potato chips and win 25 games or you could pay zach lavine $20M and maybe win 30 games. if you're really lucky, it's not a terrible contract you have to give up assets to get out from under. most likely it's a poor contract that hampers other moves. the downside is it's an absolute albatross around your neck that basically caps all upside for 4 years, after which you can eventually rebuild.

i just don't get the appeal of signing guys who don't move the needle to contracts that make getting future cap space almost impossible. getting superstars (draft, sign, trade) is the best thing to do to build a team. the next best thing is to save cap space until you are appealing enough/good enough to finally lock up your cap space as a final move to contending. blowing a chunk of cap space when you are rebuilding on a non-superstar is just crazy to me. unless they have no other long-term contracts and can still clear space. and even then, i'd rather just have $20M more for someone other than lavine. chicago isn't LA but should be able to sign stars.

doesn't chicago get good attendance no matter how bad they are? i can't imagine the fans are clamoring for lavine and that's why you have to do it.

The owner doesnt want to win a ring he just wants $$$ to fund his baseball team which is his true passion. Owner wants them in that sweet spot where they arent so bad they are bottom dwllers but also not good enough that he will have to pay $$$ or have lots of unrealistic expectations. Lavine is perfect for them as he keeps them competitive in the East but they dont have to pay him the max. Their whole team is like that full of middling players like Robin Lopez or Dunn.

Bulls just saved the Kings from themselves. Lavine is solid with upside but this was a huge overpay.

Chicago had to match and hope that Lavine can turn into a border-line allstar player.
