Suprised that it doesn't happen that much more often with heads of state or anyone else who flies that frequently.

I was shocked the moment I heard that news from one of my friends, R.I.P to all the victims on that plane. Haven't seen anything before in my entire life, so sad.

How safe are the US Domestic fleets? And if they are really safe, any idea why?

Arent most Domestic Airline fleets like 15 yrs old or more?

    RIP Pol Prez and others!

According to the article, it wasn't a problem with the plane itself, some mistake by the pilot.

That thing was completely overhauled back around December. New upgraded electronics, etc.

Incredibly sad, both for the families of those involved in the crash and the nation of Poland. Can you imagine the turmoil our country would be in if the President, First Lady, and the Joint Chiefs were all killed in a plane crash?

Poland pretty much had their 15 greatest military and political leaders wiped out because one pilot failed to heed warnings and decided to chance it in foggy weather...

Don't they have any security protocols to where the pilot would have taken higher value of the safety of everyone on board rather than try to arrive on time?

From what I have heard, it could have been that the president or some high ranking official over ruled the pilot. This would not be the first time this has happened in the polish air force. The pilot probably feared for his career and tried to land the plane at all costs. He had about 4 landing attempts. Most pilots will divert to another airport after 2 failed attempts. May they all RIP.

Wow. That's awful to hear about :(. I can't imagine what it would be like if half of our executive branch was wiped out in an event like this.

Why would you fly the majority of the most important people in your country on one, old plane? At least have two planes.

But completely updated. Can't compare Air Force 1 & 2 to the plane used for Poland's government.

From what I heard, wasn't this a small jet? Air Force 1 & 2 are Boeing 747s are they not?
