Here's a really cool TV report from 1982 that gave viewers a sneak peek at the sci-fi films that were set to be released that summer.

We see these things a lot these days, but it's awesome to take a trip back in time to see how people were getting their first looks at movies before the internet.

Some of the films included in the report are Blade Runner, Poltergeist, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Wrath of Khan, The Thing, and Tron!

I love how they completely spoil Spock's death in Wrath of Khan. 1982 was a great summer of movies! I turned four years old that summer, and I actually remember my parents taking me to the theater to see E.T. and Tron.

Wow, what a great year for movies. I can't believe they didn't toss up some spoiler tags on the death of Spock.

If I remember correctly, Leonard Nimoy had been pretty vocal in public about his intention to depart the Star Trek franchise. Spock being written out wasn't exactly a secret. Of course, Wrath of Khan was a huge hit, and I'm sure that, coupled with the offer to direct Star Trek III, brought him back.

And yes, 1982 was a MONSTER year for sci-fi movies.

Possibly the greatest summer of science fiction flicks ever due to one film...

    Blade Runner

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion.
I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Terrhauser gate.
All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
    Time to die."
