Well, that's sort of a relief for the Rockets and the rest if the West. Except McHale is still in Houston so that relief is short lived.
Stan would've been a great pickup for the Rox. Wonder if the fallout between him and Dwight prevented any consideration. Although I thought they let bygones be bygones
It would have never happened, SVG wants more control and Morey wants a coach that wants the least control.
that deal is great compared to signing Josh Smith, Brandon Jennings, Ben Gordon, and Charlie Villanueva to long term deals.
Problem is Otis Smith built a Finals team around a number 1 pick (Howard) and Dumars built one with cast offs like Wallace, Big Ben and Billups.
I think there is an argument to be made that success 1 decade ago vs success 2 decades ago isn't much of a difference. Regardless, they've completely **** the bed in every aspect imaginable for the better half of this past decade.
Let's hope he can work his magic with their front court and make it the best, which it can be in the next 2 years and stay for the next 5. Maybe Otis Smith can get rid of his family (Josh), get something decent in return. Then draft a good wing / guard, make Jennings a 6th man and start from there.
First thing they need to do is trade Josh Smith along with Greg Monroe. Greg has good value throughout the league and if you manage to package one with the other you may be able to get something of value in return, for taking J-Smooves sh!tt contract. Plus Monroe and Drummond can't coexist in the front court unless Monroe finds an outside jumper. These two may be just as bad as Dwight and Asik sharing the paint in terms of floor spacing.
Josh Smith's contract reminds me of Rashard Lewis' bloated deal. Good thing we didn't get suckered into paying either one
