Nuggets sign Jameer Nelson (3 yrs / 13.5 Mill) Goodbye Lawson? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">ESPN sources say Jameer Nelson has landed three-year, $13.5M from Denver, while Jokic (2014 second-rounder) gets four-year deal worth $5.5M</p>— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) <a href="https://twitter.com/ESPNSteinLine/status/620625484355731457">July 13, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
You mean the Kings aren't offering enough?? Either way, I think it's a combination of things. Lawson has done very little to help himself get out of Denver. He runs his mouth, has no filter, and portrays very little tact or judgement on social media. Teams are wary of players who display a distinct lack of respect for their coaches and teammates, and in that regard, Lawson has handled this off-season very poorly. The Kings (and Rockets) are probably low-balling the Nuggets big time because they know there probably isn't a very competitive market for Lawson right now.
.... Foye anybody? Bev, Foye, Thornton, Terry and Johnson not bad for PG depth, even though all are really combo guards.
No extension, they just picked up his 3rd yr option. Very tradeable contract <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">I'm told Denver is picking up former Wolf guard Randy Foye's third-year option for $3.1 million -- a bargain at current market prices.</p>— Jerry Zgoda (@JerryZgoda) <a href="https://twitter.com/JerryZgoda/status/619999891486457856">July 11, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Not too crowded to require an immediate trade. If Lawson can buy in, a guard rotation of Lawson/Mudiay/Nelson/Foye could be pretty good.
Not very many of those and I mean it's obvious by now... he just isn't valued much by us or anyone else.
Not sure if serious. The Nuggets are rebuilding and Mudiay needs all the minutes he can handle. Nelson is a decent vet backup. Keeping Lawson makes ZERO sense if he's truly a malcontent and the Nuggets are tanking. They are just holding on to him trying to create some trade leverage.
They haven't signed him officially yet. They still have the capspace right? And they don't have to trade Lawson right now. Malone is a tough man- ex policeman not like that crappy Shaw who read books to know how to relate to young kids They still have time to trade him when they get smth good, and Malone will keep things in order.
I think they lose some leverage now that it appears Brandon Jennings may be available. There just aren't many teams that need (and have the means) to take on a PG with a pretty significant contract like that. I would think Jennings would be the more attractive piece for the Rockets since his contract is expiring.
no because he has achilles injury. Achilles is the death sentence of bball players esp the likes of Jennings who rely on speed and have horrible work ethic. If we gave up a single asset to acquire Jennings I will be Ung contracts is enough value for such a wild risk.
It is a risk, but not a wild one. His upside when healthy is worth it. And it's an expiring contract so it doesn't cripple the team going forward.
