He would be an even worse soccer coach.

What about the seasons you didn't include? How'd he do?

Four of those six seasons you list, he had to deal with Melo. So, that could be a big part of the problem.

Nah, Mike is a good coach. He's a winning coach, even if you threw in all his bad seasons, he still averages like 45 wins out of 82. But he's 67 and I wonder if he still has the fire in his belly.

I dunno, it's odd, he's a successful coach but has a history of having some pretty terrible records and just losing a team. This has become a bit of a trend with him and I have a feeling that's what is going on here.

Really, you mean the NYK that was really good up until Melo got there and Stodamire go injured, or how bout the Lakers squad with injured Kobe, Nash and Dwight Howard and then that trash squad he had after that. None of those teams imploding were his fault.

Have any of his teams ever had this poor of a start and turned it around? I'll have to go look at those Suns years on basketball reference.

    And what about this team?

The Lakers team did, but turn it around for them meant sneaking into the playoffs as the 8th seed...

When he got there he wanted to play his style and it took a while for him to figure out that his style wasn't going to work when you have Dwight, Pau, Kobe, and Nash.

The main problem is not the offense. Its the defense.

Cmon I just explained why using the Lakers was not an unfair argument to make,

That was one helluva disaster, even if they made the 8th seed, smallest victory.

Payton, Malone, Kobe, Shaq > Dwight, Pau, Kobe, Nash = grandpa duel

    PhilJax > D'Antoni

Lockout shortened season. His best player was McDyess in his third year and the core of that team had players with either 1 year under their belts or was a rookie

    2013-14 62 NBA LAL 27-55 .329

Kobe played a grand total of 6 games this year

    2003-04 52 NBA PHO 21-40 .344

His starting point guard played 34 games that year. Amare was in his 2nd year

Too many problems to list with MDA being one of them but not THE issue

MDA has his problems but even Pop can not coach this roster.

    It's pretty simple.

He gets most of the accolades outside of Harden and CP3 when the team was winning. He and Morey should.

When he fails, he should take the fall.

But you all need talent to win(role players in this case), are people gonna blame Pop for where they are? How bout Snyder(No hardware argument).

I like Mike, but I've never understood how a pro coach who is paid multi-millions a year gets a complete pass for ignoring and never really learning or emphasizing 50% of the game of basketball.

I'm not ignorant to how the NBA or sports works when a team underachieves (e.g. coach will get the axe before a player is traded). But a thread like this really doesn't do much to prove that the right move at this time is to can the coach or to put the blame squarely on the coach. The OP took about 2 minutes to copy/paste the track record together but didn't really bother to look into the reasons why the team underperformed like they did.

I feel like the offense is definitely an issue. This team is not good offensively or defensively. This is just not a good team right now. MDA certainly deserves a lot of blame for that.

While I agree with that, I think it's on Tilman and then Morey to decide fast which direction to go.

Riding this out, and sneaking into the playoffs as a 8th or 7th seed is not the solution. Or landing at the 9th spot, the West is unpredictable at this point.

Getting to the 2nd-3rd seed is unrealistic at this moment.

I mean yea the offense needs some work, I agree. But its not a really huge(the defense is definitely) issue to me, alot of it is that guys have to hit open shots sigh. We are still top 10 in offensive efficiency so that's good, the defense and rebounding is where things get messy, and Jeff is back so let's se where we go from there.
