It's a lucky shot and he was just lobbing bullets like long range varmint hunters. Even without all of the factors you mentioned, the inherent mechanical abilites of the rifle mean the bullet could strike anywhere in a 3 foot circle at that range. Add in just wind which could blow in different directions at different ranges and the flight instability when the bullet goes subsonic and the luck coefficient grows.

 

They should use ISIS captives and make this an Olympic event.

2 mile kills would be a drop in the hat, and USA would reign supreme again.
