Game Night 7.5/10 Was funny and enjoyable but nothing to remember. Meth Damon had me laughing non stop every time he was on screen. Cars 3 6/10 The animation was amazing in Cars 3 but the story felt meh. It was pretty obvious where the plot was going from the get go but it is a kid's movie. Still enjoyed it.
3 Billboards Outside Ebbings, MO - 9/10. This movie is right up my alley in comedy. Hilarious as hell and all the characters tied in so well to the story. Great acting. Great writing.
The only worthwhile things he's done are: Welcome Back, Kotter Saturday Night Fever Urban Cowboy Grease Pulp Fiction Get Shorty The OJ Series That's it, over a 40+ year career.
You know for as sucessful as he has been as an actor, yes. Between urban and Pul he was doing GARBAGE. Pulp Fiction came back and he won America over and he had some nice couple of films after but that was it.
Just got done seeing 30 Days of Night which was surprisingly not terrible. 6/10 Josh Hartnett owns and needs to come back to full feature length films.
Re-watched The Man Who Shot Liberty Valence, every couple of years I seem to come back to this one. Always holds up very well, not your 'typical' western. Lots of moral ambiguity for those who like that kind of thing. 9 out of 10
Phantom Thread. 0/10. No threads, no cred. Would give it negative stars if possible. [Possible spoilers follow, if such a terrible movie can be spoiled] WTF. I thought, what the heck, Mrs. B-Bob wanted to see this, and it was Daniel Day Lewis's last movie, and I like PT Anderson... at least sometimes. Was this farce? I mean, none of the main characters are interesting or likeable and then one starts poisoning the other and we're all like, is this turning into camp? Is it supposed to be funny? I kept hoping for John Waters to show up. Has there been any dramatic tension in the two hours of suffering we just invested? And then there's the SOUNDTRACK. All the music is loud and completely irrelevant to the scene it accompanies. I mean, as Mrs. B-Bob pointed out, the soundtrack was "just another costume." Okay, that's clever I guess, but cool story, Paul. There were only like 8 people in the theater and we were all laughing by the end. Just wanting it to end. I can't remember the last time I said, "there is no reason to see this movie," but there is no reason to see this movie. Maybe if you hate Daniel Day Lewis and want to see him eat poison mushrooms, barf, and then overact some more. OH! I was almost done, but no. His freaking accent and the accent of the leading lady are both so so bad. Are you Austrian? No..., from Wales for a while? Wait, is she Swedish? Now he sounds kinda German? WTF. No wonder this is his last movie.
WOW, that's amazing. now I want to see it just to check it out, although sounds like it's a "good video movie" (although not a "good" one). Really surprising for a Daniel Day Lewis film. wow. I appreciate your taking the time to comment on it.
That's hilarious. You should have just re-read this a couple of times: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php...ul-thomas-anderson-the-phantom-thread.285939/ But thanks for taking that bullet so now I will never, ever be tempted to.
At least your expectations will be better calibrated than mine. LOL. I really thought I'd like it. It's just amazing to me than someone will make a movie about people with no real problems. I know there are a lot of entertaining movies like that, but they are usually comedies.
