    Randalls>>Krogers>>>>>>>>HEB>>>WALMART

Randalls to me has the best meat BY FAR all around.. Choice/Select/Prime whatever cut you pick it's better 90% of the time better than all the others.. Plus I cant stand HEB, they are soooo busy why dont I just go to Walmart and fight the mob there?? I really like the ALL AROUND package of Randalls, but for value and selection I'd go to Walmart..

    :(

Wal-Mart's a zoo. I hate going there, especially for groceries. HEB is a bit better. I second Da-Glyde's comment on Randall's meat, simply excellent. Also, Randall's is more expensive but often has crazy sales on items.

Randall's blows. Their high prices finally caught up with them, just like Albertson's a few years ago.

Good riddance. I swore off the store right before Rita rolled through town. I was on the corner of Fairmont and Preston in Pasadena across the street from Randalls. On one corner there's a Chevron, on the other a Shell, then Randalls gas is on the third corner. While Shell and Chevron had gas at $2.89 for premium ($2.69 regular), Randalls had already jacked theirs up to $3.49 a gallon ($3.29 regular). I'm pretty sure they knew both of the other stations were about to shut down and they had no problem wallet raping the remaining customers who had no other choice but to buy their gas.

Swore 'em off and have since learned to love Kroger.

Two new stores Randalls opened in Pearland flat out sucked. !/3 of the stores had groceries and wtf is up with that? People just did not go there.

I predict that this is the beginning of the end for Randalls.

Randalls is badass. Or Tom Thumb like you yankees in Dallas like to call it.

Anyways, the bakery section of Randalls is the best out of any grocery store, IMO.

Where can you get 10 different kind of bagels at a store?

Also they have various selections of fresh baked bread.

At least the one near my place is gonna stay open.

I hear the kids who play cricket at the Randalls on Westheimer and Dairy Ashford parking lot, are celebrating now that they have the whole lot to themselves.

Did I forget to mention that for every two dollars you spend at Randalls you get one free airline mile from Continental. Boo-yah.

Randall's sucks, their prices are crap.... I used to be a sacker there and you had to shmooze with all of these soccer moms just to solicit a dollar from those cheap scummy ho's.... I wanted no part of that b.s.... Good riddance!

i always feel sorry for the randall's right across from HEB right by where i live in austin. the parking lot is always so empty while HEB's is packed. of course i only go to HEB b/c it's so cheap and much bigger than randall's, but i still feel bad. i've been in a few times when HEB ran out of something but randall's usually doesn't have it either and the store is so much smaller and the emptiness is just depressing.

i like kroger's even more than HEB, but here in austin the HEB's are easier to come by and there's really not much difference so i have no complaints.

overall, walmart is the baddest store on the planet. i pretty much only buy food, white t-shirts, and tennis balls from there, but the amount of crap you can get from there and the prices are just too good to be beat, crowds be damned. plus they're open 24 hours. i mean, what can't you find at walmart (insert some joke here).

    Amen.

And now Safeway is running Randall's into the ground. They apparently are the grim reaper of grocery stores.

Randall's is overpriced - they occasionally have good sales on stuff you want.

For the best combination of fresh produce and low prices, I like HEB's new stores, like the ones on Westheimer.

Super Wal-mart is doing a good job with their presentation in the meat dept these days, but the produce still sucks.

Kroger is pretty much at the bottom of my list. High prices and their produce sucks.

I'm not in Houston, but where I go to college the choice is basically either Kroger or Super Wal-Mart. At home it is Albertson's, Super 1 Foods, or Wal-Mart. I almost always go to Wal-Mart because I *hate* stores that have the little shopping card. Sure, you can get good deals with the card, but I'd rather go to Wal-Mart that usually has low prices than have to buy whatever is on sale with the dumb shopping card.

You must be referring to the Randalls on Braker @ 183. Honestly, I shop at the HEB there all the time, and I have not once set foot in that Randall's. I'm surprised anyone even goes there at all.

Hmm... I wonder how this affects its Tom Thumb stores in the Dallas area?
