Ramona Shelbourne: Real possibility, she consumed an entire roasted pig stuffed with massive sausages before posting this idea.

The Media has a job. The job is to survive. They survive by selling stories and with as much competition as there is out there to sell the story each news org is looking for a competitive advantage. What's the best way to compete with a fixed number of actually real intriguing stories when there aren't many? Make up a rumor. Best way to start that is to pose it as a question. Most readers don't even notice the headline is in the form of a question, they read it as fact. The headline says, "Could Durant go to the Knicks?". The reader reads it as "Kevin Durant Is Considering Signing With the Knicks". The media knows that a good percentage of the population has low reading comprehension. They didn't do anything wrong, technically. They just threw out a little conversation style article not a lie. They fill the article with enough basic factual information regarding contracts and cap space, etc, etc, to keep the reader thinking the article has some substance and they have generated a clickable document to generate some revenue with. The talking heads breath life into the story by passionately selling it when they talk about it (that's actually what they are if you weren't aware - used car salesmen and women, that's where they would be of they weren't on ESPN). Everyone makes money and the reader and viewer are none the wiser from any of it. That's the business they are in. It's a racket.
