    This.

MDA is a lame duck coach, and he's playing the part. I also don't think he gives a damn at this point. Just going through the motions....

The defense was the problem though....check the numbers. Thats why we lost to the Warriors.

It was a problem sure, but not able to buy a bucket was just as crucial. Our simple offense will get us nowhere.

Everybody relax, not worried about anything offensive. However, it's hard to score consistently when you're taking the ball out of the net.

The SINGLE question is this, when will James Harden dedicate himself to the defensive end. We can NO LONGER hide him on the defensive end. We create these gimmick defenses so that he doesn't have to work as hard.

It's not working anymore and they need to hold him accountable. We could tolerate teams having a good night shooting, but teams are having a career night against this team. James has to sacrifice some of his offense for defense, period...

If you were a teammate of James what would you say to him?

The one good thing to come out this past offseason was that Tilman didn't give D'Antoni an extension. Cuz I don't know if he'd be willing to eat 3-4 years the way Les did with McFail.

D'Antoni needs to go, but the problem is there's no quality head coach out there who would jump into this situation. Not without a very expensive, long-term commitment and even then I doubt they'd take the risk knowing that they'd have no training camp, no chance to mold the roster to their liking, and would be stuck with the current cast of assistant coaches.

So ultimately this could be a lost season.

Add in working for a billionaire who wants to save at all costs, and who sits courtside with his son watching their empire grow. A lot to stomach.

Yep. For this style to really blow away components you need a lot of high percentage shooters and no Harden. It wouldn't matter how great our role players shoot because Harden will probably take 2 or 3 times the shots they do just because he can.

Very smart by Tillman and not resigning all of those assistants as well. The real question is, when will this team play any defense. They play more D in the summer league at Fonde!

Yep. Its Melo’s fault, just like last year.

Yes, by all means, let's bring in someone who will do things that are demonstrably less effective. Sounds like a solid plan.

Which trio are you talking about? Because if Westbrook is part of it...that ain't happening.

Come on, guys. Seriously? I really can't imagine a coach not caring...it's not a job you go into because you don't care. You could be stubborn and lots of other things...but uncaring? Don't see it.

Playing good defense, in just about any sport, is about attitude. It starts with the headcoach, then the assistant coaches, followed by your best player.

    Everyone just follows the above.

If the teachers are not effectively pushing Harden to play a lick of defense (until this year, Harden had actually improved that side of the ball), nothing will matter.

It's early, so there is still hope that somebody might light a fuse under these multimillionaire asses.

Don't think Tillman isn't pissed he's losing China money. The Rockets play like they're being paid a little more under the table to suck. Morey can't be fired for exercising his right to free speech, but he can get fired if the Rockets suck. There has to be a legitimate reason. China money comes back when Morey is let go. What happened affected all of the NBA, but especially the Rockets. Tilman was in the middle of promoting his book as well. There are a LOT of people in the NBA hoping the Rockets get off to a horrible start.

It can also start with the players, but Harden nor Westbrook are those guys so it would have to come from a coach. That’s why Mike needs to retire, he’s done.

Yeah right. We started with the same crap last year. It’s gonna get worse
We started with this same crap from last year. People must still be reeling from the Astros meltdown. The team is still trying to find its balance. You got new face.. when these guys gel, you’re gonna get an elite title contender. If harden can score 50 pt triple dub. every night, Brodie bust 30/10/10, everyone else play zombie apocalypse defense, we’ll get first seed. Lol
