    agree with the post above..

melo is too strong and tough for hill to guard 1v1...but i'd rather have prime grant hill on my team.

Keep in mind Melo isin't exactly a great 1 on 1 defender himself. Hill in the mid to late 90's had the best attacking the basket game of any wing player in the league at that time. Each player's offense is superior to their opponents defense, but I think the gap is wider between Hill's offense on Melo's defense compared to Melo's offense on Hill's defense.

A healthy Grant Hill was a far superior player... not even that close.

well, one on one full court, I would give it to Hill or even one on one from the half court stripe (need better ball handling)

one on one if you start at the top of the key or so, carmelo would win

I'd say it's the opposite. Take away the court vision / passing, which is irrelevant for a 1 on 1 game, and Melo's offense would be just miles and miles better than Grant Hill's.
Grant Hill was the better defensive player but that gap wasn't nearly as huge. Grant Hill's defensive prime was with the Suns in his mid 30s, not with the Pistons.

Grant Hill was a top 3 player in the league before his injuries. Remember when T-Mac was supposed to play Robin to his Batman?

Grant hill was probably a better player, but 1 on 1 melo would destroy him. Melo has so many more moves.

Grant Hill was what you'd get if you put Lebron James a regular NBA body during the hand-check era. One on one, I guess Melo. I've never seen anyone score so effortlessly. Team, I'd go with Hill.

Melo would win a 1 vs 1. Grant Hill is the better team player though.

That's a solid way to sum up Grant Hill, I guess.

If LeBron blew his knee, sprained his wrist and then had a bout of severe diarrhea, he'd be like Grant Hill.

Basically, take away a lot of that athleticism, power and shooting ability. And take away a lot of defense.

Overall, I think Grant Hill was and is very overrated. Part of it is NBA's doing, since they were looking to make him the face of the league after Jordan's retirement. So there were journalists who would get carried away at the time and actually claimed he'd be better than Jordan. Even now, not that long ago, I saw people on this board saying that Grant Hill was better than the current Durant (blasphemy).

But, he was very easy to like and sympathize with when he got injured. A great person, college star and fun to watch.
