This is a Bima -type question, but how does the upcoming CBA change Llull's case/anyone's case who would like to come over to the NBA next year? The cap is going to skyrocket in the summer of 2016, so there would be every incentive for Llull to try to negotiate a short term deal, like Scola's deal but maybe for even fewer years if he can finagle it.

Basically, is there a provision in the NBA that would allow for Llull to take fewer years (and fewer dollars) on his rookie contract, just so that he can become an RFA or even UFA earlier? Maybe Morey negotiates him into a nice 2yr 4M deal that would allow him to get PAID by say 2018.

Interesting aspect to add to the discussion. Please help!

Llull is a second round pick so he doesn't fall under typical rookie deal. He can sign any where from 1-4 years from minimum to maximum for a player of those years of service. Rockets do have to make at a minimum a 1 year deal to ensure they keep a players' rights. Considering Llull is on a contract in Europe though, I don't believe Rockets have to offer him even that.

He plays a lot like Harden. Step backs, 3's and driving. He even wears that tape sometimes lol

Too many L's in his name. Clearly a loser. He should change it to Sergio Wwuww. We want W's, not L's.

That's an interesting way of pronouncing "Llull". Never would have thought to say it like that lol.
also Ser-hio is just the standard way of pronouncing the name, it just gets pronounced differently by English speakers.

Back on topic, we could use him next year. I dont know much about him, but we could use another PG...

He's definitely an answer to our pg issues. He's legit. He's a real basketball player, period. We don't have enough of those guys. The kind of guys who can make skilled plays in various ways, on both ends.

Athletic w/ length: Ariza, Brewer, Smith, Capela, McDaniels

Strength and quickness: Dorsey, Howard, Beverley

    Old:Terry, Prigioni

Basketball players: Harden, Jones, Papa, Johnson

    Fundamentally skilled: Dmo

Papa and Johnson aren't going to play because they're raw, so that leaves us with two guys who are true basketball players. Lull would give us a third in the starting line up. He moves a lot like Nash, I'm not sure if that's by coincidence or because he's modeled his game after him....but he's a better scorer, more athletic.

I agree with your assessment of llull & am really excited that he may be Harden's running mate. That being said, we just got back from the grocery store & did buy an extra lb of salt, so I was ready for that news flash.

The cynical part of me is hoping that Stein isn't trolling us, because Llull would be a perfect addition to the team. Would save us the headache of finding another point guard. And yet, as we all know in this business (quoting O'Toole's Lawrence in a parched rasp), "Nothing is written."

What are the Llull buyout agreements, for example?

My feeling is that he is another over-rated, overpaid Morey guy who is made out to be much better than he actually is just like Papa was to please the Morey homers.

The guy is not good enough to play in the NBA, he knows it and I know it. Onyl reason he has been hiding in Europe all these years. However, he may be a better scrub than Papa

Spanish Chocolate is the PG so 4L will fit nicely next to Harden

In fact, I heard the only reason he has been hiding in Europe is because he knows that you know it

So do we still have rights to him? Or can any team sign him to a deal?

Rockets still have NBA rights to sign him.
