We can't have both those guys on the court at the same time without that being exposed by the opponent.
Thanks for the post. I love that Yao is getting to the line so much in limited action. He looks really more aggressive. Our bigs need to start rebounding better, or we're not going to be very good. Bob Sura got a lot of rebounds last season and he is out so that will hurt as well.
Starting lineup for opening day. PG - Rafer Alston SG - Derek Anderson SF - Tracey McGrady PF - Juwan Howard C - Yao Ming I don't think JVG can not start DA if he wants to get off to a fast start.
I disagree. I think Swift will start over Howard. Not because he has had a better preseason, but because his play complements yao's play better. Not only can Howard be a sparkplug off the bench, but his play also complements Mutumbo's better. Mutumbo and Swift are the defensive, shotblocking, rebounding (let's hope Swift picks up his rebounds atleast) types and Howard and Yao are the scorers who do the other things second. If I'm wrong and Howard starts, then I think he'll still play more of his minutes with Mutumbo rather than Yao. Also, let's hope McGrady is in there to start the opening game. I have no doubt he's a warrior and will probably start, but he could have an off game.
key stat there is if yao could average 2.5 fouls a game in the regular season then he would move to the level of dominating.
I noticed in the last game that Yao, when coming out high to "show" on the pick-and-roll, is keeping a small buffer-zone between him and the opposing guard. Last season he would often make contact and get called for a cheap foul. I think maybe JVG is conceding a little defense in order to keep Yao in the game.
I always to this for pure fun ! Per 48 minutes leaders. I know, not enough sample and not enough minutes. But here it is if you are curious.
