Curious who Republicans (and I reckon, Tea Party followers and "Independents" who normally vote Republican) would prefer as president. note, this is NOT a poll of who your preferred CANDIDATE might be, which might be influenced by things like electability, or being more likely to win vs a hypothetical Democrat, but rather who you'd actually want in the WH, if one could be assured that someone on this list would win.

...and I'm sure I've left someone out, but i think these are the most likely candidates, in a variety of scenarios.

note: I tried to include all realistic candidates but limited to poll limits to ten, so i included Other.

The only guy I am not 100% will immediately destroy the country would be Huntsman. Maybe Paul if he was more like his pops.

you included some that i think are pretty marginal, and left out several others that are much more likely.

Christie is vindictive, but I think he's got more of a grasp on what it takes to govern than most. I can live with a bit of narcissism if the job gets done.

    You think Ayotte will run?

Interesting. I see her as a strong possibility as a VP nod.

On Ayotte, her alliance with McCain-Graham is not going to help her AT ALL in a primary.

She'd be better served, the party as well, for her not to run and then get the nod as a VP option. Don't let the cannibals in the primary to rip her flesh off before she can be on a ticket.

Another name that should be considered, laughable or not, is Ben Carson. I think he is genuinely convinced he should run for president.

i agree, but i think she's interesting, and would do well in the top job.

    primary is another story.

As a democrat, I would choose Chris Christie off that list. What's absolutely crazy to me is that I'd put Jeb Bush as the #2 (on that list).

    *shudders*

i think Jeb would make a great president, but i hope he doesn't run. as a country, we need to say adieu to both the Clinton & Bush political families.

If Brian Sandoval (governor of Nevada) could get through a Republican primary, he could probably obliterate the Democratic field. Hispanic Republican governor with a reputation of working with Democrats and getting things done.

Automatic win if it weren't for the Republican primary.
