We are desperately in need of a new topic to argue. I can only argue Clowney vs Mack, Bridgewater vs Manziel for so long. So what positions do you think will have starters in week 1 that are not currently on the team? QB? OL? DL? S? OLB? ILB?
Interesting. So you think someone is going to be brought in and demote Graham and/or Griffin? Both guys have played pretty well over the years and I don't think they just paid GG all that money to come off the bench. I think Ben Jones or Brennan Williams will win that LG posiiton. I won't be surprised to see Crick start opposite Watt. Did you pick OLB because you think Brooks Reed is going to be moved inside?
Should have left it off. What I meant: Owen Daniels was the starting TE. He obviously got hurt and Graham filled in. Daniels is gone. Graham is now the starter. So that's what I meant by "yes" and "no". Ehh forget it. OLB, yes, I won't be surprised if one of Reed or Mercilus "lose" their job (or Reed moved inside).
I think it's safe to assume Fitzpatrick will be the starting quarterback. They picked up a DT and DE already and those two guys may start on the defensive line with J.J. I don't think the starting RT is on the team yet.
Fitzpatrick Foster Johnson Hopkins Graham Brown LG Myers Brooks RT Griffin/Posey/ slot receiver/ fullback Watt NT Crick Mack/Clowney Cushing Reed Mercilus Joseph Jackson Swearinger Clemons/ Lewis If they draft Clowney or Mack then one of the olb spots will be taken care of and between Quessenberry and Williams one of the offensive line positions should get filled. They will need to draft (or pick up via free agency) their slot receiver, nt and LG. Not a bad team on paper if O'Brien can put Fitzpatrick in a position to succeed.
QB (Pick or Fitzpatrick) DE (Clowney) S (Clemons) DT (Powe) LG (Pick or Jones/Quiz) RT (Pick or Quiz/Williams)
I'm guessing CB, OLB, NT/DT, RB, TE, RT. Obviously they won't be the #1 guy except for maybe OLB and RT, but they will be starters.
QB FB LG RT DE NT ILB OLB Guessing that the Texans draft 1.1 OLB (Clowney) 2.1 RT (Taylor Lewan) or ILB (C.J. Mosley)
He actually only had two bad games; granted, they were *really* bad games (1/7) - but 25/28 in the other 14 and he made all 26 extra points. The big thing with Bullock, and I think it flies under a lot of radars - 29 touchbacks; 38 returns (with a 26 yard average return). That, to me, is far more egregious. Hard to fathom he won't have competition.
Lord help us if Powe is actually the starter at NT. Guy was a 3rd stringer all 3 years in KC and only played in 2 games last year.
Schaub only threw like 4 straight pick-6's, other than that, he outperformed whoever the Rams QB was. Sweet.
It seems silly to let those two games override the significantly larger sample size (which included him hitting his final 12 in a row). Again, this kind of goes back to drawing lazy conclusions that get prematurely etched into stone. I didn't think he had a paticularly good year (I thought his shaky KOs were far more problematic) - but I think, as the team imploded around him, that he very quietly seemed to get significantly better as the year went on.
Maybe he'll be better as a starting NT than what Newton was as a starting RT... If that's saying much. But to be fair he did have BIG TIME talent in front of him. Romeo drafted him and Romeo has a pretty good track record with players. Maybe Powe will surprise you. Still got the draft coming up though and I wouldn't be surprised if O'Brien has his eyes on his players from Penn State.
Oh, so he started making them once the pressure was completely off and Schaub became the laughing stock. Sweet. A kicker who sucks when things matter but goes Linsanity for the 1st overall pick. Down with the Aggie already.
