The Season begins with the Playoffs. It will tell us a tremendous amount about what is going on in the offseason.
You are delusional if you think we can make the playoffs. The only team in the west that is worse is the one that is actively tanking.
HCA in the first round might be a dream at this point, but sneaking into the 7th/8th seeds isn't a ridiculous notion.
The people here saying "we'll make it but not do anything with it" are still taking a playoff appearance for granted. This is a new Western Conference. Rockets have to outpace some combination of the Grizzlies, Lakers, Blazers, Mavs, Kings, T-Wolves, Jazz and Pelicans to fight for the 6-12 spots. The Rockets have shown no ability to put in consistent effort or find a formula to win reliably this year. Our offense has completely stalled and can't even shoot over 30% from the field or score more than 15 in a quarter reliably. The past 6 quarters I've watched a team that doesn't even belong in the NBA. We've gone from the Warriors level to the Atlanta Hawks level. Nothing can be taken for granted, at least at the moment.
The current state of the West gives us the possibility of making the playoffs. Until teams 1-8 start distancing themselves from the pack, we’re only a 22-game win streak from the 1st seed!!!!!!!!
Hopefully not. Get as good of a pick as you can, get somebody talented at pick 12-14 or so, then try again next year. This year's lost.
