There's no way around it anymore, we are struggling. Last season we were 17-4 through November. We are now 11-12 through 23 games. There are countless threads naming this reason and that reason. I figured a poll would help us get a better sense of what reason(s) Clutchfans find most prevalent. Vote and discuss if you wish.
Whether it was Morey's arrogance or Tilman being unwilling to go into the cap or both, this offseason was an unmitigated disaster. MCW and Melo were two of the worst signings in franchise history. Mbah a Moute could have been brought back for almost nothing. Trading Anderson and Melton for Knight and Chriss was desperate and did nothing to improve the team.
We are a top heavy team that currently is not getting enough from 2 of our top 4 players, namely Chris Paul and Eric Gordon. When your bench is so thin and your best players have off nights it really kills.
CP3 has regressed a lot Harden is turning the ball over at an alarming rate and is playing zero D MDA made no system changes We play zero D Just not the same team
He.Has.Not.Regressed. He can physically doing all the things he did last year, he's been dealing with injuries. Hell, he even looks faster this year.
I think the OP needs to change the thread title to "Why are the Rockets, a professional NBA team, struggling?"
last season is last season, time to get over it. Things change every season, teams improve, teams decline, you get injuries or you can't win the close ones. Nothing ever stays the same
-d(a(du/dx))/dx+(d^2(b*(du^2/dx^2)/dx^2))+co*u+c1*(du/dt)+c2*(du^2/dt^2)=f(x,t) led Morey to a(B)=a(a) + $Xr(B/A) + %X[%Xr(B/A)] + 2%X(v(B/A)+a(B/A) which was all a ruse!! Hence, the Rockets are bad.
Top 3 reasons are: 1) Lack of effort on defense - just totally mailing it in most nights defensively (25th last year vs. 6th last year). 2) Stars not playing up to potential - CP3 with a noticeable, sudden decline and Gordon falling off a cliff hurts. Capela slow start now has found his groove. Also, Harden has also seemed to lack the focus he had offensively last year as his TOs are high. He has clearly played the best tho. 3) WCF hangover - they just didn't look ready to play this season, which is understandable considering how excruciatingly close we came to winning it all last year, only for it to be taken away by bad injury luck. Now, having to start all over again from square 1 is certainly a daunting task. This also may be the cause of the first two reasons. Morey making a couple bad moves this summer and MDA/coaching staff certainly share some blame too. Especially when it comes to preparing this team to play every night. But the fact is that on most nights we are still the more talented team on the floor and some of these losses are inexcusable.
