Listened to the show this morning. Good overall. However, they are wrong about the Rockets-- said that the Rockets were one of the worst defensive teams last season. The truth is that the Rockets were about average. A lot of media types get the wrong idea by not accounting for pace.

The Rockets were ranked low in terms of points allowed per game because they play fast, but they are ranked about average in terms of the actually relevant measurement, points allowed per possession.

Yeah, media never seem to consider pace. Remnants of old boxscore mentality. But, Houston was still pretty mediocre on defense.

The guys seemed a bit tired, the show didn't have the feel of the old TBJ preview podcasts -- I'm sure tomorrow's will be a lot better.

They also said we don't have a bench. I disagree with that.

In the inaugural podcast, they also said Dwight Howard was going to mess up Jeremy Lin and Chandler Parsons' bromance ("the bromance of the NBA," according to Skeets), but it's all good because Lin can move onto Franscisco Garcia. Looks like they haven't been paying attention because Casspi, not Cisco, is clearly Lin's next bromance candidate if Parsons does leave for Dwight.

Love these guys (the starters) so glad to have then on my podcast again!

IMO, this has more to do with the Rockets system, which allows even the worst players to still be very good with shot selection. Doesn't really say much about talent as it does about what we ask our players to do. We're not as iso-oriented during garbage time as most teams.

Our bench includes arguably the top reserve PG and C in the league. That by itself qualifies it as one of the better benches in the game.

The 'third team' Carlisle was referring to was Brooks/Williams/Brewer/Dmo/Smith.

TECHNICALLY, these were all NBA starters at one point. So he's not lying.

They specifically mentioned the Rocket's perimeter defense and Morey/Sampson brought that area up as well last season.

This won't be fixed until they break up the Lin-Harden backcourt.

Its still a good listen, but I'm really missing the audio "drops" they used to have. I don't know why they stopped doing that.

    And where's Matt Austin?

It's not quite the same, there's more of a visual component now. Some of the jokes just aren't allowed on NBA TV. But I do agree that it's still a great product. Not quite as awesome but still great.

    No idea about Matty O.

Stupid show hating on the rockets. They talk about the really crappy games in the east and then just overlook the rockets.

The All Star voting comes up and nobody has a rockets player starting. I can concede LMA starting of DH, but Lillard over Harden? Yea right.

Blazers are only 4 games ahead and have had the easiest schedule so far.

Producing full time, in the booth only. They dropped the drops and a couple of other things that were catered to an audio format in exchange for a more widely consumed "TV show." Not sure if that was mandated from NBATV or if it was a decision from within, but I get the vibe that they do miss the drops, at very least.
