One of the worst managers I have ever seen. He's in a no win situation, but he is part of the problem.
Yup, Looks like either they have quit on this guy or he just doesnt have the juice to fire these guys up to at least try to win one game every two weeks He's just not a major league manager
like i said in game thread, i don't think he makes it through monday. can't be worst team in league and have a 10+ game losing streak without making a change.
Wow.. im surprised people are even following this disaster of a ball club...although, i really think Drayton McLane's ego (letting Gerry Hunsicker go), Tim Purpura and Ed Wade really screwed this team up. The problems go far beyond the manager, but if there must be a scapegoat, it has to the manager, unfortunately. I'd be down to bring back the good ol' "scrap iron"!
Agreed. I dislike Mills as much as the next guy, but the situation will get no better by letting him go mid-season. Might as well wait until this great season is over. The next manager will be in a similar position as Mills though (at least for the next few seasons).
These young guys are getting beat down mentally. This will be the worst two years in Astro history and sometimes you have to make a change just to make a change I mean whats the worst thing that could happen???
Another vote for Scrap Iron. Every manager we've had though, the common denominator is people b**** about him on the Internets and call him stupid. With this sad sack no-talent team, the next guy can't do much better.
Why are you guys mad. Im glad the astros are losing we need high draft picks and a rebuilt farm system.. don't expect any kind of winning till 2016.
Luhnow traded the vets for prospects. Luhnow assembled this craptastic bullpen. Luhnow more likely than not made Mills trot out Cordero for those two blown saves. I'd say if you are disappointed in the team this year that you should be calling for Luhnow's head.
Which is why I'm not a fan of a complete purge like has been going on this season. You have some guys that probably have no business being on a ML roster, some that maybe need a bit more time at AAA. At least bring on a few veterans (not asking for big names, guys that would be willing to sign on a 1 year deal), just to hold roster spots for this season. I knew the next few seasons weren't gonna be pretty, but I wasn't expecting it to get this bad. At least give me a 60-70 win team.
Yeah because his team wasn't in last place or anything with the vets we had. Sheesh. When the farm is as bare as it had been, sometimes you have to blow it up to bring talent into the system. That is the way to build sustainable success later.
