After hearing Blake Griffin found out he was traded through twitter, which is not the first time, I am wondering if organisations - so the owners, GMs and coaches - are more cold and distant in their approach compared to 10-20 years ago? Or are things leaking out too early and it's out of the organisation's hands? Or is it something else? To me, organisations should be media savvy enough to know that once they finalise a trade or are in deep conversations things could leak out. It's 99% guaranteed to leak once they send their papers to the league office for approval. So my question is, how could they not speak to a player beforehand? What could be the reason? Any thoughts on the matter?
Why would you tell your player he is in trade discussions? What if the trade doesn’t happen? Now you’ve got a disgruntled player.

I think Morey informs the players if there are trade discussions and how close the trades are. Anderson knew Morey was trying to trade him for Melo over the summer, but he was told the trade wasn't close. Anderson knows Morey is trying to trade him now too. The basket of players traded for CP3, including Bev and Lou, knew what was going on weeks in advance. Morey is pretty transparent when it comes to these things contrary to what some people on clutchfans might believe. I have never heard an outgoing player from the Rockets say they were shocked that they were traded. I think communication is key with Morey.
Uhm...who said discussions? Trades are finalised and nobody has the curtesy to get on the phone right away or ask a player to see him right away once it's almost done?
Should we automatically believe the player? Woj said that Lawrence Frank informed Blake of the situation once talks heated up. Can’t know how it went down for sure, but in this case it’s equally likely that Blake was pissed and wanted to make the Clips look bad.
PPAT was shocked that he didn't see it coming since the trade came fast. When it did go down Morey told him in his office. I think the same thing happened with Morris.
I saw it be reported that they had informed Blake that they were looking at trades for him. Maybe they didn’t tell him he would be headed to Detroit, but he knew he was on the trade block.
So players are lying when they say they don't pay attention to the news, they don't read the news, they don't follow the news, they don't read social media, they don't follow or listen to the outside noise?
Star and good players are informed. If they don't have imbecile agents. Scrubs that are a throw in for salary match learn after the fact.
