No he doesn't he was good especially on the post, but his commitment to D is intermittent. He has improved a lot but doesn't belong on the NBA all defensive teams. DD
imo... ideally PJ would split time between the 3 and the 4... giving him time to bang with the bigs - but not take a beating all game long... and some time running with the wings - but not so much that his legs turn to jello-o... a balance... Which leads back to my opinion that we should have a 'full size' pf for at least a portion of the game - and depending on matchup - possibly more in some instances... Small ball is fine for many stretches - but we need to incorporate more size/length to help with boxing out and rebounding... CC and an undersized PJ as our primary/majority front court is passable in some instances - but inadequate in others... having a PF (that could hopefully finish at the rim) along with a C and PJ at the 3 would be a nice change up depending on matchup - perhaps when Harden sits... I think in general we need to throw more differing looks at teams so as to not be too easy to game plan against... additionally PJ is 33 and playing the most minutes of his NBA career... time to be incorporating some minute mgmt... and according to Wiki... "power forwards usually range from 6' 8" (2.03 m) to 7' 0" (2.13 m)" and "In the NBA, small forwards usually range from 6' 6" (1.98 m) to 6' 10" (2.08 m)"
What Friar Tuck does on the court is often overlooked. He gets a ton of deflections, which frequently lead to a turnover by the opposing team, or steals by a teammate. While he may not have a big rebound number, he'll grab the clutch board that's a difference maker at the end of the 4th. He doesn't have a lot of blocks but, again, he'll get that clutch block when it's needed most. Tuck has the uncanny ability, at least uncanny to me, of being able to up his defensive pressure during clutch time, and it doesn't seem to matter who he's guarding. A lot of that doesn't show up on a typical box score, but you see those kinds of things watching the game, or re-watching a game, which I often do. As a defender, PJ is a madman, in my humble opinion.
So basically the 2 points Harden recd for 1st team All Defense kept Tucker from getting it.....I mean not directly but.....
I agree with you. That's why I said those who voted for him have probably seen more games because what he does doesn't always show up in the stats.
I remember him saying that too. Chris Webber knows basketball. Unfortunately not everyone who has a vote does. Some of them have never even played and don't value old school defenders like PJ.
