I've always thought it was strange that it's "beef noodle soup" when it's about equal parts beef and pork
Finally got a chance to try the mi Quang at banh coun hoa. 3 thumbs up. This dish now tops my Viet noodle soups. Thanks for the recommendation.
Really need to try some Pho next time I'm down in Houston. Have a great place about 5 minutes away from me here in Dallas which is pretty nice.
I decided to seek out this soup, and after discovering there was no Mi Quang Soup in the entire District of Columbia, say what!, I then learned there was a secret Vietnam Community in Eden with over 25 authentic Vietnamese restaurants and bakery. Plus a mega Asian Grocery and Pool Hall. I went. Loved it. Had the flavorful soup, fresh sugar cane juice, and bought several amazing desserts from the Phuoc Loc bakery. Good call. Great soup.
I remember Cafe 808 on Oltorf being good, haven't been in a few years. Thanks to all for the recs and info, I made a b****in pot of goodness last month. Made a metric f*ckton of broth, about half of it is in containers in the deep freeze for future fun.
I go to Bellaire Blvd for all of my south asian needs. Can't go wrong. Personally more of a fan of Vietnamese sandwiches.
Anyone got any good recipes? My wife is trying to nail Pho, and she's getting better, but she's a white farm-girl from the Midwest, so it's an uphill battle.
Ironically, her Vietnamese friend is two miles from us and offered to teach her how to make Pho. Or is that what you're talking about?
Hes talking about being in Houston you could spin and point in a direction and no matter what theres always a pho shop only 2 miles away from you.
You never had pho in a meth house? Very underrated. Whats funny though is meth in a pho shop, very overrated.
