I'll probably be flamed again just like I was 1 year ago when I made a post saying LeBron should come to Houston. & Also the only person who suggested green to hou on possible free agents to hou when harden was out with an injury. Low and behold we signed Green & everyone is making posts about what I said a year ago in LBJ possibly coming to Hou. And if you want to go back even further, when clutch first made the post about LBJ to Houston 4 years ago I gave sound reasoning as to why he should have come here to play with harden and Howard. But I'll go ahead and post a scenario...

Would it be possible to sign Clint to near max deal. 25m , then do a multi team trade to bring pg13 via sign and trade. The Salaries do match. Note & I said multiple team trade because OKC has Adams but don't need a C. So Clint's landing spot would not be OKC. Who knows Portland is thinking about breaking up their back court. Maybe Clint to Portland, CJ to OKC, pg13 to Houston. There's lots of scenerios. That's just 1.

Then you still have assests & 35m in salary in Anderson and Gordon that you could use to trade for LBJ.

In turn landing us pg13 and LBJ. Cause if we are going to go deep in the luxury tax by matching Clint & resigning cp3. Why not be in the luxury tax for pg13 instead of Clint?

If we do this I have no idea how we could get a center like Jordan unless he takes a huge discount.

And I'm assuming we have Ariza bird rights so can bring him back easily. Then that leaves the MLE.

The only reason this doesn't get done is because Darren Morley is a terrible GM.

    It’s possible.

Getting PG13 is actually very easy if he wants to come. OKC would salivate at him opting in for a trade to Houston. They could turn him into Eric Gordon and a few NG guys they can waive.

That’s amazing If your OKC, Eric Gordon is a stud for 13mil for Two years team control. No brainer type of trade. He can walk for nothing or you get Eric Gordon. However PG would really lose a lot of money by doing this, not to mention he isn’t locked up on a long term deal that would provide security.

The hard part is convincing the Cavs to take Anderson’s contract. It’s possible we throw in 3 future draft picks or find a third team, but still a pipe dream.

This scenario is mathematically possible, Bima confirmed it in his stickies thread.

Also this allows you to resign Capela and CP3.

Any Sign and Trade will result in a HARD CAP for the year and will not allow the Rockets to acquire Lebron James... NOOB. Let him know. @BimaThug

There's a couple of issues with what you are proposing.

Basically, you are proposing a trade of Capela for PG13 and you mentioned that both would be signed and traded for the max.

The fact that both would be receiving such large raises over their prior salary then special rules would apply.

In 2017-2018, Capela made $2.3M and he is now eligible for a max salary of $25M.
In 2017-2018, PG13 made $19.5M and he is now eligible for a max salary of $30M.

Here's the rule that would apply:

The rules formerly known as BYC now apply under just one circumstance -- during sign-and-trade transactions (see question number 92). If a team re-signs its Larry Bird or Early Bird free agent in order to trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction, the player's new salary is greater than the minimum, he receives a raise greater than 20%, and the team is at or above the cap immediately after the signing1, then the player's outgoing salary for trade purposes is either his previous salary or 50% of his new salary, whichever is greater. The team receiving the player always uses his new salary.

    http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q93

This clause would apply to both Capela and George.

Based on that rule, from the Rockets perspective Capela would count as $12.5M in outgoing salary with George counting at his full $30M. Those salaries obviously don't match so that deal is illegal from the Rocket's perspective.

From OKCs perspective PG13 would count as $19.5 in outgoing salary with Capela counting at $25M. That doesn't work either but it's close enough that you could make it work by having OKC include a min salary.

The Houston side of the deal isn't even close so you couldn't do that deal.

The other issue has been pointed out by bilaal14. If you acquire a player via a sign and trade then you are immediately hard capped for the rest of the season. That would prevent the Rockets from acquiring Lebron and maybe even resigning CP3.

What about trading Gordon to OKC for George and trading Capela and Anderson for Bron.

No, you still have to match salaries. Gordon's $13.5M salary isn't anywhere close enough to PG13's $30M.

Almost guarant eed that Cleveland isn't going to take on the 2yrs/$41m remaining on Anderson's contract.

Even if those deals worked (they don't), where are you going to get the money to sign Jordan?

Jordan is due almost $25M this year. He may be willing to take a paycut to play in Houston, but that would be something like $20M. He's not going to come here for $4.5M.

i don't think we will get both, we may not even get one of those guys, but one thing is for sure...

by taking the 3-2 lead on the warriors we showed the nba world we are as good if not better than them with a healthy cp3. in fact we're the only team than even comes close!

everyone knows we are one piece away from being better than them. every player in the league thinks they can be the one piece and get us to a championship next year. PG and lebron would have to be crazy to not consider being that piece and winning a ring!

if we find a way to gut the team to add one or both of them. great! if not, the tyreke evans' and will barton's of the free agency pool will gladly sign up to be the piece that gets us over the top!

Wil Barton is a great pickup, off the bench scoring, he can shoot corner 3s, create his own shot

Exactly what Lebron would be thinking where he could maximize his last few years to have a legit shot at a ring.

Only place that will allow him to coast during the regular season and have a legit( with Lebron I can argue we would be favorites) chance to win a ring would be here.

Only Houston offers him that and still playing in a huge market

Rockets need his scoring, switch D is a team concept, Eric Gordon played well on defense, getting steals, Guarding Curry is really a need for the Rockets to acquire another PG, Fred VanVleet, Bench Depth is really a need
