Would he be a decent player for the Rockets to pick up as a free agent? He is a legitimate NBA center....perhaps a Charles Jones/Chris Dudley type player with size who can defend and rebound if necessary?
If he is retiring or has a cumbersome contract, though, you can nix that idea.

Pig (with one leg and blindfolded) in a New York Minute.

Tyrone Washington is better, younger, faster and cheaper.

From what I understand, Perdue had an option on his contract ~4.8 mil that the Bulls did not exercise, so I think he is essentially a free agent. I'd take Perdue for the minimum simply because of the necessity for a big body against Shaq.
If you check his stats, they suck, but he's managed to stay in the league every year because he is a good dirty-work rebounder/defender type.
Having Charles Jones never hurt us, neither should having Perdue.

I didnt see him play last year.

He isnt worth a lot of money -

    BUT

I saw him play in San Antonio in a 3 center rotation with Duncan and Robinson. He played good for them, gave them quality defanse and boards. He would be a quality addition if he came cheap.

He may have once been a good role-player, but now he's worth no more than the minimum at best. If the Rockets can pick him up that cheap, then why not? At the worse he's six more fouls.

Its only my opinion. Feel free to disagree.

Call me silly, but the idea of Rudy going with an all-defense front line of Cato, Olajuwon, and Purdue would be quite an interesting sight.
Plus, any of those two would form a nice defensive tandem and plus, Purdue could be great big-man insurance (much like he was with the Spurs).
We'd have the three darts (Francis, Mobley, Shandon) and the three towers (Hakeem, Cato, Perdue), and having him would definitely fix some of the need for size up front.

Ummmm am I missing something here? The guy was cut from the WORST team in the league ... and you want to pick him up?! This is how you become a team like the clippers!

    Oh please.

Purdue isnt any worse than Tabak or Charles Jones. Or Pig.

Hell, the I remember when some people on this board were looking forward to maybe picking up Joe Kleine. Please, Purdue is much better than him.

    Space Ghost,
The reason the worst team in the league dropped him was because they didn't want to fork over 4.8 million for him. Not only was it a financial move, it was a cap move.
Hell, I wouldn't pick up almost 5 million for Purdue either, but as a person to put on the roster for the minimum? I think it's a good idea. By your logic, signing John Salley would have made the Lakers a lottery team, or signing Joe Kleine would have made Portland the second coming of the Warriors, or signing Oliver Miller would have made the Suns win only 16 games....you get my point.
