In his interview with the Pacers, at 2:30, Scola says "These past few years, I did not have the chance to play for a team that was looking for a ring"

This is a fair statement about the Suns. This would be a fair statement if he had been playing for a team like the Bobcats. But I do not believe that it is fair to claim that the Rockets were not looking for a ring.

    He no look ok.

    Still like him though.

He is right, we were never gonna win a ring when he was our best player.

    really?

You think they were looking for a ring that year that Yao was gone for sure and we were looking to dump Mac?

Comeon dude, Scola is telling the truth.

What's wrong with that? He said "these last few years", meaning he's only referring to his last year or two with the Rockets, at most. Well, we weren't looking to win a championship in either of those years. We were just trying to make the playoffs.

He said last couple of years. He didn't say anything wrong at all.

The transition is from Tmac & Yao -> Harden & Howard. I don't think anyone was really expecting anything to happen in between.

It was fun watching the team grind out wins and Scola beasting the Lakers in the playoffs though.

Go back in time and ask Lowry, Dragic, or Parsons if they weren't playing for a ring and let me know what they tell you.

They were fighting to make the playoffs. They didn't have their eye on anything past that.

Morey made comments about the easiest way to rebuild was to lose and do it through the draft. But he said Les wanted to try to make the playoffs. Morey balanced the two paths.

Adelman left because he agreed with Scola.

I think what Scola meant is that we never had a contending team while he was here, which is true. The mentality of the organization was looking for a ring, but by making trades and maximizing value of contracts until they could land a star player. Harden didn't arrive until after Scola was gone.

A team that couldn't make the playoffs was looking for a ring? Ok
