Great list, but this list doesn't take into account all of the top guys (Guys who were projected to actually be very good didn't usually throw.) Some of those years almost ALL of the QB's turned out to be terrible. Go back and look at the complete list, and to me at least, it proves just as much as every other Quarterback stat....it's all of it together, and not just one piece.

Because in the same manner you picked out the QB's who threw under 55, what about all of those who were over? In the list I bolded guys who we probably wish we would've drafted.

    Year: 2016
    Paxton Lynch, Memphis 59
    Jared Goff, California 58
Carson Wentz, North Dakota State 57
    Christian Hackenberg, Penn State 56
    Joel Stave, Wisconsin 56
Jacoby Brissett, North Carolina State 56
    Josh Woodrum, Liberty 56
    Cody Kessler, Southern Cal 55
    Brandon Allen, Arkansas 55
    Trevone Boykin, TCU 55

    Year: 2015
    Bryan Bennett, SE Louisiana 60
    Sean Mannion, Oregon State 57
    Brandon Bridge, South Alabama 57
    Marcus Mariota, Oregon 56
    Anthony Boone, Duke 56
    Jameis Winston, Florida State 55
    Cody Fajardo, Nevada 55

    Year: 2014

    Logan Thomas, Virginia Tech 60
    Stephen Morris, Miami 59
    Tom Savage, Pittsburgh 57
    Blake Bortles, Central Florida 56
    Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois 56
    Jeff Mathews, Cornell 56
    Keith Wenning, Ball State 56
    Jordan Lynch, Northern Illinois 55

    Year: 2013
    Tyler Bray, Tennessee 59
    Zac Dysert, Miami (OH) 59
    James Vandenberg, Iowa 57
    Ryan Nassib, Syracuse 56
    Bradley Sorensen, Southern Utah 56
    Geno Smith, West Virginia 55
    Tyler Wilson, Arkansas 55

    YEAR: 2012
    Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State 59
    Kirk Cousins, Michigan State 59
    Austin Davis, Southern Mississippi 58
    Nick Foles, Arizona 57
    Chandler Harnish, Northern Illinois 57
    Jordan Jefferson, LSU 57
    Russell Wilson, Wisconsin 55
Casey Keenum, Houston 55 (I almost bolded him...lol)

    YEAR: 2011
    Colin Kaepernick, Nevada 59
(Maybe not now, but back then he was pretty good)
    Ryan Mallett, Arkansas 58
    Patrick Devlin, Delaware 56
    Andy Dalton, TCU 56
    Cam Newton, Auburn 56

    Scott Tolzien, Wisconsin 55

    YEAR: 2010
    Levi Brown, Troy 56

    YEAR: 2009
    John Wilson Parker, Alabama 58
    Mike Reilly, Central Washington 58
    Drew Willy, Buffalo 58
    Mark Sanchez, Southern Cal 57
    Josh Freeman, Kansas State 57
    Chase Daniels, Missouri 57
    Nate Davis, Ball State 56
    Curtis Painter, Purdue 56
Rhett Bomar, Sam Houston State 55

    YEAR 2008:
    Paul Smith, Tulsa 57
    Joe Flacco, Delaware 55
Kevin O’Connell, San Diego St 55

Once again, arm strength doesn't tell the full story....

55 is the threshold and 99 percent of the time if you throw underneath that, you won't be an adequate NFL QB.Tyrod and now Glennon are the only two starting QB's drafted since '08 to have thrown at the combine and under 55 mph.

Well I was never saying that arm strength equals a good QB, I was saying that not having that arm strength meant that you wouldn't be a good QB. It's sort of like doing well down in the D league. You can be awesome in the D league and still suck in the NBA but if you suck in the D league, you'll for sure suck in the NBA.

It's not a perfect analogy, but it's pretty solid. Basically until I see an uninjured QB throw under 55 at the combine and still turn out to be a good QB I won't think that it is likely to be possible.

Texas Tech QB Pat Mahomes acknowledged that he senses Texans HC Bill O'Brien's interest in him.

"I feel like a lot of coaches like me, but especially coach O'Brien. I think my personality and how real I am, those are things beyond what I can do on the field that he likes," Mahomes said. "It seemed like the way I was answering questions, I think he knew that I knew what was going on. You can tell when coaches have a confidence in you." On Monday, Mahomes was in Houston to meet with Texans' officials. Four other teams have shown strong interest in Mahomes, having scheduled him for both a pre-draft visit and a private workout: the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets. Mahomes said he's met with 21 different teams during the pre-Draft process. He's looking like a first-round probability at this point.

Damn that's high praise. Could BOB and co. actually move up and get this guy?

Unfortunately he didn't tell me who else they wanted when I tweeted at him again

Mel Kiper & McShay just went on Mike & Mike and said Mahomes is a potential top 10 pick. I don't know if this is part of 'Misinformation season" seeing as to the draft is seven days away or if Arizona really likes him, either way if they smell something I'm ok with moving up to get our guy. They also said Garrett isn't a lock at one and Mitch Trib is the best qb in this draft. Could be Mel doing agent spin too

They have also both said none of the QBs have a first round grade.

You can't believe anything you hear right now. A week before the draft, believe nothing.

I want to believe we want Mahomes, though.

I believe it much more now that Mahomes himself came out and said that he believes BOB wants him and that he was able to perceive BOB's interest. Before I thought it might have just been smoke that O'Brien loved Mahomes, but I'm kinda believing it now.

But he probably said that in every city he's interviewed in. He's been around.

So, two thoughts... I'd be curious to know the question - did he just randomly offer BOB or was he specifically asked about BOB? While in Houston? Either way, you rarely hear prospects tip their hands, and I can't imagine the Texans are thrilled with the information getting out. Puts every QB-needy team on notice *and* potentially raises the cost of moving up - assuming the Texans do indeed like him.

On that front... they're going to have to jump to at least 11, ahead of Cleveland and Arizona, and I just don't think they have the draft capital to make that happen. Teams are going to want a bounty to slide back 14+ slots. If there's any possibility, it should be handled when the team they've targeted is on the clock so they can a) leverage the tick-tick-tick of a deadline AND b) prevent any team from jumping them. It would also limit a team's ability to counter-offer ("Hey, Arizona, Houston wants our pick - can you top their deal?")

He never BOB wanted him, or was even interested in him. It's easy to draw that conclusion - but it's very possible BOB likes him but still prefers Savage. Or one of the other QBs.

Wonder what Mahomes wants? I suspect he'd be very happy to come to Houston.
Unlike Arizona or KC where there are established QBs and he'd have to at least wait a bit.
Unlike Cleveland where... well, it's freaking Cleveland Browns.
I mean picked higher is more money... and I'm sure he'd be happy to go to SF...

But on the whole, I suspect he'd be very happy to be in Houston.
So factor that into his comments. And factor that into lack of strategery with his comments - meaning you don't really want to show your cards.

What somewhat convinces me is that we have heard of O'Brien liking Mahomes from different sources.

They have the ammo to jump that high. We fans may not be too crazy about it though.

What they're pretty much saying is these tacos are pretty bad but because you're hungry and there aren't many taco trucks in China, you'll kill your mama for them.
