So does that mean he's not the savior anymore?

Has a lot of tools but he's pretty raw. He's going to need development but a lot is there already

They've really struggled in rounds 2 and 3 (thought they've gotten better recently); but they've been superlative in round 1 and I would wager (without doing an ounce of research) above-average in rounds 4-7; more so if/when you add street free agents to that list.

The big misses, frankly, have been the NFL free agents.

Pat Mahomes is going to be a colossal bust. He is not very accurate on downfield passes. Granted, this is a personal observation. I'd be happy to see a stat on that prove me wrong.

Sign Romo and draft a QB, but I'm not sure it needs to be Mahomes.

The Texans should stay with Osweiler as their starter. But they need to draft Pat Mahomes if they get the chance.

I disagree. I think he can be next season's Dak Prescott. He happens to be one of the most accurate passers in this draft.

    Dak Prescott , Jr year: 3449 yards/ 61.6%/ 27 TD's (+15 rushing)/ 11 int./ 151.7 rating.

    Patrick Mahomes, Jr year: 5052 yds/ 65.7%/ 41 TD's (+12 rushing)/ 10 int./ 157 rating (on a bad team).

Get him by far the best O line in the NFL with a dominant running game and he just might be. Hell a lot of people could be if they had that.

It's a fair point. Guys have no control of their career. A quarterback especially, gets drafted by the wrong team that stunts his growth and his career is over.

    THE NEXT DAX PRESCOTT......BOOK IT!
    Class: Junior

    Height: 6-foot-3 inches

    Weight: 238-pounds

    School Statistics:

    Passing: 268 completions/ 422 attempts (63.5%), 3,546 yards, 29 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 152.98 efficiency

Rushing: 204 rush attempts, 846 rushing yards (4.1 avg.), 12 touchdowns

Analysis: Evans shattered Virginia Tech's quarterback records in his lone season in Blacksburg. He came in and seized the starting quarterback role and proceeded to lead the team to 10 victories for the first time since 2011. He did so in an extremely efficient way and took a bulk of the carries in the running game. The departures of Isaiah Ford and Bucky Hodges could have been a factor in Evans deciding to forgo his final season at Virginia Tech and enter the NFL Draft.

    ESPN Draft Rating: N/R

    NFL.com Draft Rating: N/R

What's Left to Prove at the Combine: Evans will have a lot to prove at the NFL Combine. He spent one season at Air Force, one season at Trinity Valley Community College and one season at Virginia Tech. While his numbers jump out on paper, he doesn't have a large enough sample size that scout's can look at when evaluating the dual-threat quarterback against NFL-type talent. He will need to run a solid forty yard dash and show off the deep ball during the passing drills. He must also test well during the measurables portion. If he can string together a positive performance, several NFL teams will look to pick up the one-and-done FBS prospect and develop him into the next great late round starting quarterback. Evans has a lot on the line as he has been projected anywhere from the fourth round of the draft to undrafted. A bad combine would diminish his existing NFL stock.

ACC teams with most returning starters in 2017START SLIDESHOW

NFL.com Analysis: Another one-year starter at the FBS level, (began at Air Force until injury led him to transfer to junior college), Evans could make a lot of fans at the combine. He's a smart player who brings athleticism and a live arm to the party. If he impresses on the field, in workouts, and at team interviews, we could be looking at the player teams will point to as the next mid-round pick with starter-quality attributes -- aka the next Dak Prescott.

If Mahomes is the only QB we get this offseason (draft, FA) he will be our starter day 1.
