I saw a tweet a while back about partially guaranteed contracts. Something like McClemore, Hartenstein, and Clark all have dates in December. I did a little searching but no luck. Can anyone provide the details? Thanks.

It sounds like Mac is a wasting asset then, salarywise. Not that many teams up against the luxury tax, and out of contention. Detroit probably should feel they're one of those teams, as they're something like 7500 under the tax line, and going nowhere fast. Why not see if they'll take Mac and a 2nd for Markieff Morris? They can waive Mac, save money, and get rid of a guy who doesn't seem happy there. Plus, I've read here that people have wanted 'Kieff for awhile. EDIT: and isn't Mac a bit superfluous with Gordon coming back?
The downside to that is the Rockets are already a little over the LT currently, and I don't think Tilman would ok a trade that significantly increases the tax bill unless it's for a star player that he could market for better financial returns. Edit: I do agree that McLemore may be unnecessary depth with Gordon, Rivers, Green (if he returns). But it's not like high IQ, skilled, 3 and D SF/PFs can be easily acquired.
OK, let's assume Fertitta will only go over the LT threshold if he gets another marketable star. How can he bring one in, considering the Rockets have no tradable big salaries, and marketable, acquirable stars generally have large salaries? Capela shouldn't be traded if he's going to keep playing this well, Harden will revolt if either WB or Tucker are traded, and Gordon can't be traded until next year. House, at 3-ish million, is about the largest salary they can move, and it's not going to be enough. Even if you bundle him up with Mac, Nene, Sef, Clark, and IHart in a deal that makes sense in the Trade Machine, but not in reality. Whereas you guys have been wanting Kieff for awhile, he seems like he'd fill a need---spelling Tucker---and it utilizes the asset of a nonguaranteed, waivable salary that will be evaporating very soon. Ship em Clark too, if Clark's salary is also NG. Then everyone saves money.
Isn’t the reason the Rockets are trying to stay under the luxury tax this year because the penalty amplify each year a team is over the LT? The Rockets figure to be in the Luxury tax well into the future after that year, so the Rockets may be more willing to spend starting next season? Hence why the whole LT thing is so Cristhian season
I would sign Bruno if he becomes available, better than Clark. Over 6'9 w/7'7 wingspan, more athletic than Clark. Better 3 point shooter too. DET is in love with Christian Wood so don't get your hopes up, he will be retained.
